| With the strategy of developing the country through science and education, the number of college students has soared, and the construction of college campuses has been accelerated to meet educational needs. As an important part of the urban space, the landscape role of the college campus needs to be paid attention to.However, due to the urgent need for campus construction, most campus designs are patterned, ignoring the students’ needs for the campus space environment.College students will encounter various kinds of stress in their study life,so the role of the campus external space environment is crucial for students to relieve stress and regulate their emotions.Based on the demand of students for a healthy campus environment, this paper starts with the role of the campus public space environment in promoting students’ positive emotions and selects Northeast Forestry University as the research object. The essence of the impact of campus public space features on students’ emotions is the interaction between space and students’ emotions when students carry out activities in public space, and the nature of the relationship between the two is required through the relationship between the impact of space composed of different campus space features elements on students’ emotional changes, sorting out the relationship framework between the two to establish the impact mechanism and focus on research.First,we conducted research on the campus space of Northeast Forestry University, selected a representative sample space, and took facial images in the selected sample space for more than two consecutive weeks using a facial image capturing. The facial expression photos taken for two consecutive weeks were used as the data source of students’ emotional responses. The captured images were cropped and analyzed by facial expression recognition technology, and the GPS coordinates corresponding to the images were extracted using Loca Space Viewer. The spatial floor plan was drawn using CAD through on-site research, and the emotional state distribution map was drawn using GIS software. The plotted floor plan and the emotional state distribution map were combined to derive the distribution map of emotional features in the space. The spatial features were investigated based on the emotional marker points of the emotional map constructed for each sample space.Second,by combing previous studies,SDNN and RMSSD were selected as ECG indicators for assessing mood changes in terms of physiological impact, and electrocardiogram(ECG)indicators were combined with spatial characteristics of the campus using portable smart devices;positive and negative affective scale(PANAS)and mindfulness scale(BFS)were selected as measures of mental state changes in terms of psychological impact. Finally, through the above preparations, quantitative data on the factors influencing campus public space features on students’ emotions were obtained, after conducting the main experimental tasks of this study, quantitative data on physiological and psychological responses were obtained. The correlations and linear regression analyses between campus public space features and physiological and psychological responses were obtained through SPSS data analysis software to establish links between campus public space features and physiological and psychological responses, respectively,to obtain the apparent degree of influence of different space features on students. The corresponding design strategies and directions for future in-depth research in this area were also proposed. The quantitative study of the impact of campus public space features on students’ emotions can provide a more objective description of the impact of campus public space environment on students’ health,to promote the study of the health benefits of a positive emotional campus space environment, provide certain guiding suggestions for the composition of campus public space elements and campus space planning in the future, and provide novel methods and ideas for future research,to more comprehensively build a healthy campus and provide a positive and healthy campus environment for students. |
