Floating oil seal is a mechanical dynamic seal composed of a pair of metal floating sealing rings and a pair of O-ring seals,which are installed in the equipment chamber and are often used for sealing lubricants(such as lubricating oil).Floating oil seals have the advantages of simple structure,strong anti fouling ability,and long service life,making them widely used for sealing hydraulic excavators,coal mining machines,scraper conveyors,rice harvesters,and other engineering,mining,and agricultural machinery.The floating oil seal mainly relies on the processed sealing end face for sealing.The size of the end face specific pressure and the surface roughness of the end face are the main factors affecting the sealing performance.The structural parameters of the floating oil seal determine the size of the end face specific pressure,and the polishing process of the end face directly affects the surface roughness of the end face.This article adopts a combination of simulation and experiment methods to study the structural parameters and polishing process of floating oil seals that affect the specific pressure of the end face from the perspectives of theory,technology,and equipment.A two-dimensional axisymmetric model of a floating oil seal was established using ABAQUS software.The influence of geometric parameters,installation spacing,and O-ring hardness of the floating oil seal on the end face specific pressure was analyzed through simulation orthogonal experiments.The key factors affecting the end face specific pressure were analyzed to obtain a regression model between the end face specific pressure and the structural parameters of the floating oil seal.Finally,the accuracy of the regression model was verified through experiments,And preliminarily analyzed the source of the error.Floating oil seals are usually produced in large quantities with simple geometric shapes and are suitable for mechanical polishing.A three station polishing equipment was designed and manufactured based on the characteristics of the floating oil seal,and the polishing process of the floating oil seal end face was studied based on this equipment.The equipment mainly consists of three units: indexing rotation,rotary polishing,and sandpaper feeding.A three-dimensional model of the equipment was established using Solidwoks software,and production drawings were drawn for part manufacturing.Through selection and verification,the models of the cam splitter,motor reducer,cylinder and other components required for the equipment were determined.Finally,the entire machine was installed and debugged to meet the required functions,which can meet research needs and be used for normal production and processing.The end face polishing process of floating oil seals was studied.Firstly,a comparative experimental method was used to study the effects of polishing pressure,polishing speed,sandpaper mesh size,and polishing cycles on surface roughness.Then,based on the results of a single factor controlled experiment,three levels were selected for each parameter and a four factor three level orthogonal experimental design was conducted.Finally,dynamic experiments were conducted based on the results of orthogonal design to study the effect of different polishing parameter combinations on the sealing performance of floating oil seals.Based on the experimental results,the optimal surface roughness range was summarized as0.030μm<Ra<0.060μm,and the corresponding polishing parameter combinations were polishing pressure 20-25 Kg,polishing speed 120-160r/min,sandpaper mesh # 600,and polishing circles 4-6.
