All types of cable failures will unavoidably occur during cable operation,thus it is essential to swiftly and precisely discover any cable failures in order to ensure the safe and dependable functioning of the cable.The accuracy of fault location will be impacted by the amount of background noise present when measuring the fault signal,which is frequently influenced by the environment and other variables.Therefore,the essential technology of power cable fault finding is how to minimize noise and precisely locate the problem location in the complicated noise interference environment.Therefore,this paper proposes an improved filtering method combining VMD with wavelet transform,and a cable fault location method combining VMD with WVD.The experiment proves that the fault location result by the improved method will be more accurate.On the basis of the history and current state of fault location technology both domestically and internationally,this article first explains the fundamental principle of cable fault detection technology.This study emphasizes the traveling wave location theory that is employed in this research and primarily discusses the sources of faults,common fault kinds,fault location steps,and numerous standard cable fault location techniques.Second,given that both techniques have unique advantages in signal time-frequency domain analysis and processing,this study proposes a traveling wave ranging method based on the combination of VMD and wavelet transform.The extracted original fault signal is first decomposed by VMD,and then the useful components in the noise dominant component are screened out by wavelet transform,reducing the error between the reconstructed signal and the original detection signal,enhancing the filtering effect,and more precisely extracting the transmission time difference between the transmitted wave and the reflected wave to t.Due to VMD and WVD’s advantages in handling non-stationary signals,the technique of combining VMD and WVD is desirable.Last but not least,using Matlab/Simulink,simulation models of transmission lines under various faults are developed,and the signal characteristics of various cable faults are investigated.These models are coupled with the actual operation of the power grid.The extracted fault current signal is filtered using wavelet filtering,VMD decomposition,or a combination of wavelet and VMD.The instantaneous energy value of the filtered waveform is then obtained via VMD-WVD to pinpoint the fault.The simulation outcomes demonstrate how the method investigated in this work enhances the accuracy of fault point measurement before the cable fault location system is constructed with STM32.Figure [56] Table [17] Reference [90]... |
