| The excellent traditional Chinese culture has a long history and is extensive and profound.It is the essence of Chinese civilization.Traditional patterns are an important component of traditional Chinese culture.As a specific thing,patterns have the symbolic character of the times,with both external formal beauty and profound content beauty.Mount Tai is the Cultural and Natural World Heritage which has unique natural,cultural,historical and aesthetic values.Among them,temple gardens are typical representatives of cultural landscapes,integrating Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism together.This study selected three temple gardens named Wangmuchi,Guandi Temple and Hongmen Palace of the Red Gate Scenic Area that locate at“the junction of Mount Tai and Taian city” as the research object,with the methods such as field research and image analysis to interpret their decorative patterns.Upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground,based on the interpretation and translation,taking the Wangmuchi Taoist Temple Garden as a practical case,the patterns were applied to the corresponding landscape facilities in the garden.It is in order to further highlight and improve the regional cultural quality.Firstly,it elaborated the relevant theories of pattern interpretation and design,and systematically interpreted the decorative patterns on main architectural appearances,typical pavement and so on in the three temple gardens according to the tour sequence.A database of patterns was completed.Secondly,the artistic characteristics of decorative patterns were discussed,which were mainly reflected in the richness and formal beauty of decorative patterns,the diversity of expression carriers,the moral beauty of auspicious patterns,the integration of multiple cultures,the guidance of traditional etiquette and the era character.In general,The three temple gardens not only have certain similarity,but also show their own specificity,which is helpful to understand the cultural characteristics of temple gardens in Mount Tai.Finally,based on the above theoretical research,the translated decorative patterns were applied on the related design practice.First of all,two methods of pattern translation including direct extraction and change translation were analyzed.Then,based on the current landscape analysis,such as benches,dustbin,signs(parking signs,entrance signs,bulletin board,warning signs,scenic spots introduction boards,etc.),fence of planting bed,air-conditioning’s mask and other facilities in the Wangmuchi Temple Garden,it formulated the specific design concepts,principles,and strategies for renovation and optimization.At last,the corresponding design plan was completed.It expected to provide case references for the environmental landscape improvement of Mount Tai and other similar temple gardens in China. |
