As China promotes the construction of Type 4 airports,"safety as the bottom line, smart civil aviation as the main line" has become the new goal.To further enhance the passenger experience, the smart airport employs a complex physical network of sensors,Io T terminals and routers in every corner of the airport, and further enhances airport operations through seamless collaboration of multiple subsystems and real-time data sharing and analysis. While improving operational efficiency, the communication devices and Io T facilities exposed to passengers can also pose more cyber risks to airport information systems. The digital twin,a key technology for smart airport implementation, can provide systematic help to maintain the security of the airport information system in operation while realizing real-time perception and visual interaction of airport operation quality. The digital twin integrates existing sensor data, network communication data and Io T terminal data and presents them through a fully cloned digital copy of the physical system, which can simulate physical system operation, improve operational efficiency and provide additional security. The main research of the paper includes:First,a detailed description of digital twins based on front-end programming technology, digital twins based on cloud computing services, and digital twins based on physical engines is presented.Combining research literature and official documents,we compare the advantages and disadvantages of different digital twin landing practices, and choose to use Microsoft’s Azure Digital Twins as a framework for defining digital twin assets and Unreal Engine for modeling physical entities.Secondly, the feasibility and necessity of using digital twins in smart airport information systems to provide overall network security is analyzed by studying the application of digital twins in industries such as smart transportation and smart grid. Then, the cyber security risks posed by the Io T terminals involved in airport business systems such as self-check-in,connected gates, baggage handling, cleaning optimization, and physical security are studied.and the vulnerabilities of three Io T protocols used,RFID radio frequency identification protocol,Blue Tooth Bluetooth protocol and Lo RAWAN remote wide area network protocol,to lay the foundation for building the digital twin of airport information system. Finally, based on the three stages of information system security protection evolution in the construction of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, from web application firewalls and anti-DDo S services deployed at key nodes in the early stage of construction,to security protection inside the network such as virtualization and adoption of database firewalls brought by the development of cloud computing technology in the middle stage,to security optimization based on the mutual feedback with physical security of the digital twin, the design of selfservice A digital twin-based network topology visualization application for check-in kiosks and baggage check system areas is designed. The application can visualize the topology of the check-in area network while the airport is operating, providing additional security and security in real time based on traditional network defense solutions such as network isolation, access control, and intrusion prevention.
