With the rapid development of economy and society,the number of cars has also increased year by year,the most direct manifestation is that it has caused congestion at urban road intersections.In this paper the related research about the allocation of spatiotemporal resources of intersections at home and abroad was summarized systematically,and the optimization strategy research of intersection temporal and spatial resources was focused on.(1)According to the research of current national standards and norms and existing literature,the basic theory of intersection spatiotemporal resources was summarized,mainly including the content,objectives,principles,and the optimal allocation process of spatiotemporal resources.Then,a spatiotemporal resource optimization strategy for related signal intersections was proposed preliminarily through combing the correlation between the time and spatial resources of signal intersections.(2)Starting with the optimization of space resources of intersections,the geometric design features of intersections were discussed from three aspects: the setting of entrance and exit lanes,the division of lane functions,and the design of internal areas of intersections.The traffic flow characteristics of left-turning vehicles at intersections were studied.Emphasis was given to study the geometric characteristics required for contraflow left-turn lane intersections,including the length of contraflow left-turn lane and the location of openings on the left-turn lane.It provides the prerequisites for signal control of subsequent intersections.(3)From the time resource optimization of intersections,the setting conditions of different signal phases of intersections,as well as the common phase combinations and combined phases were analyzed.Based on the common timing method of signal intersection,the phase and phase sequence setting of the lane intersection were studied.A signal timing optimization model of contraflow left-turn intersection with the goal of reducing the average delay and the number of stops was established,which was solved by differential evolution algorithm.The separation of vehicle conflicts in time provides an optimization strategy from the temporal resources of the signal intersection.(4)The intersection of Han’an Avenue and Tiancheng Avenue in Neijiang City was selected as the research object.Based on the field survey data,the time and space resources of this intersection were optimized using the above research results of the paper.VISSIM simulation software is used to analysis to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy,which can provide reference for the operation and management of relevant intersections.
