| Railway network is an important part of transportation networks, and its development and evolution are closely related to urban development. Most of the existing research results focus on the correlation analysis between the expansion of regional railway network and social and economic development. The development of railway network improves the accessibility of regional cities, promotes the economic development of regional cities, and also brings problems such as uneven regional spatial development. In order to further study the impact of railway network on Chinese cities from the macro level,it is of great significance for the rational layout of railway network and the balanced development of cities to explore the development process of railway network nationwide and its impact on urban spatial links from a historical perspective.Based on this, this paper takes the railway network in mainland of China and cities above prefecture level cities as the research object, establishes a relatively complete database, systematically combs the expansion process of China’s railway network, discusses the coexistence relationship between high-speed rail and ordinary rail, and the impact of railway network development on urban spatial links. For this reason, this study has spent a lot of energy to collect and process the national railway passenger train timetable in 1960,1969,1980,1990,2000,2010 and 2020,establish the Arc GIS basic database, and establish the measurement model to calculate the traffic volume of the railway network and stations, and then based on the railway network of 1960,1990,2010 and 2020,using the shortest time distance method and social network analysis method to calculate the urban accessibility, urban centrality, urban core and urban spatial connection strength in the corresponding years,so as to characterize the impact of railway network expansion on urban accessibility and spatial connection network.Based on the above research ideas and analysis methods, the main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The expansion of China’s railway network can be divided into three stages:the rise of modern railways, the development of ordinary railways after the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the rapid development of high-speed railways.During this period, the railway network has developed into a whole, the common railway network has reached a relatively saturated state, the high-speed railway network is mainly concentrated in the east of the "huhuanyong line",and the common railway and the high-speed railway have formed a certain complementary relationship in some areas.(2)The expansion of railway network has improved the level of urban accessibility. The spatial distribution of urban accessibility continues to spread outward in a circle, showing a distribution pattern of "low inside and high outside".Moreover, the spatial distribution of urban accessibility is unbalanced, and the phenomenon of "tailing distribution" is more and more obvious, indicating that the development of China’s transportation network cannot avoid the problem of imbalance.(3)The expansion of the railway network has significantly improved the status of the city. The railway network presents the characteristics of "one core and multiple levels",and the urban spatial connection network of ordinary railway has become complex and hierarchical. The high-speed rail urban spatial connection network has developed rapidly.Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou,Shenzhen,Chengdu and other cities as the strong connection network centers radiate to the surrounding cities. To sum up,this paper systematically combed the development history of China’s railway network, discussed its impact on urban spatial links, and found that the evolution of railway network brings thrust and resistance to urban development, which will be conducive to the benign development of high-speed rail and ordinary rail, railway network and cities. |
