With the continuous development of the national economy, people’s attention to early childhood education is constantly deepening, and the introduction of many excellent early childhood education concepts has also made the indoor space environment of kindergartens increasingly receive social attention.Kindergarten is an important place for young children to learn, live, and grow, playing an important role in their physiological and psychological growth and development. It is an important period for children to establish their outlook on life, values, and worldview.During this stage, children establish connections with the world through interaction, contact, and observation with things around them.Modern education believes that children’s growth and development are carried out through experience, and children’s cognition of the world starts from the five senses. Therefore,as the main place for preschool education, there is a close connection between the quality of kindergarten environmental experience and the improvement of children’s five senses.Children’s sensitive five senses perception enables them to have more dimensions and sharp judgments in the kindergarten environment. However,at present, the indoor space design of kindergartens in China does not pay enough attention to the significant impact of environmental experience on the development of children’s five sense perception. Therefore, from the perspective of children, this article designs a kindergarten indoor space environment that conforms to the development of children’s five sense experience,so that the indoor space design of kindergartens can provide a better spatial environment for children’s healthy growth in the future. This article takes the indoor space of kindergartens as the research object, with children aged3-6 as the main users of the space.Firstly, through the theoretical and content research on children’s perception and experience of the five senses of the spatial environment,it provides theoretical support for the design of indoor space in kindergartens.Secondly,in-depth analysis is conducted on the necessity of applying the Five Senses Experience Theory to indoor design of kindergartens.Offline research is conducted on the environmental status of indoor spaces in old kindergartens in China, and existing problems are analyzed and summarized.Subsequently, relevant inspiration is obtained through excellent design cases at home and abroad. Then summarize and propose the five sense experience design strategies for indoor space in kindergartens, including visual experience, tactile experience, auditory experience, olfactory experience, taste experience, and five sense interaction experience design methods. Finally,we will conduct a practical project on kindergarten interior design-the scheme design of the Beiyuan Star Kindergarten interior project in Nanjing.Through design practice,we will verify and strive to form a complete set of systematic research on the theory and application methods of kindergarten interior five senses experience. In summary, this article consciously focuses on the important impact of the Five Senses experience on the development of young children, and applies it to the case of indoor space design in kindergartens. The research aims to promote the current indoor space design in kindergartens, encourage people to pay more attention to the characteristics of young children’s physical and mental development, and create a better learning and growth environment for young children. We also hope to provide effective inspiration and guidance for indoor designers of early childhood education spaces, and are committed to providing reference for kindergarten space design.
