With the progress of society,people’s understanding of cars has also changed,from the symbol of identity to the means of transportation,and from the means of transportation to a part of daily life.People are no longer satisfied with the car’s function of transportation.They not only require the car to be safe,reliable,durable,but also more comfortable and refined.The work of "refinement process" can be used to control the size deviation in the later manufacturing process,also improve the manufacturing accuracy of products and enhance the user’s perception of product quality.The paper starts with the definition of dimensional engineering,the development process,and the dimensional engineering deliverables of each gate in the process of new model development.Through the intervention of dimension engineering in the early stage of product development and the optimization of dimension standards,schemes and measures in the process of development,the vehicle refinement finally can reach the target.At the same time,reduce the quality rectification cycle of later appearance matching and minimize the waste of labor resources caused by later assembly and adjustment job.Based on the traditional probability analysis method and current computer simulation analysis,it is applied to the early design stage as well as the entire trial production process.Combined with the comprehensive matching problem of front module,bumper,headlight,hood and fender,the tolerance definition finally be confirmed.As the installation carrier of all parts,BIW provides installation points and surfaces for all assembly parts.The manufacturing process of BIW is complex,and the cumulative manufacturing deviation is difficult to control.The main elements includes product design,dimensional accuracy of parts,tooling and equipment.Based on the above influencing factors,combination with practical problems to achieve the goal of improving the accuracy of BIW.The research on the dimensional tolerance of BIW has been one of the key work items of mainstream automobile OEMs.The optimization of the early dimension chain and the continuous improvement of the precision of BIW in the later production and manufacturing process bring not only the core competitiveness of appearance quality,but also the optimization of production and manufacturing costs.
