In the rapidly changing external environment,innovation is an important way for enterprises to obtain and maintain competitive advantages.Knowledge network contains many opportunities for innovation,and researchers can identify these opportunities with the help of knowledge network properties.According to the previous literature,only when knowledge elements possess low-level network properties can they have greater potential to combine with other elements to form innovation.However,recent literature has put forward a different view that knowledge elements with high-level network properties are more likely to combine with other elements to form innovation.Therefore,the understanding of the relationship between knowledge network properties and innovation is inconsistent.Therefore,on the basis of knowledge network theory,knowledge search theory and knowledge base theory,this paper investigates the influence of knowledge element centrality,structure hole(structural property)and tie strength(relational property)on recombinant innovation.In addition,knowledge breadth and knowledge depth are introduced to explore their moderating effects on the relationship between knowledge network properties and recombinant innovation.Finally,the influence of interaction between structure hole and centrality,and between structure hole and tie strength of knowledge elements on innovation is studied.In this paper,2255 patents for invention authorization and utility model were selected as research samples in the field of wind energy in China.Multiple linear regression was used to test the hypothesis.The results show that:(1)the influence of knowledge element centrality and tie strength on recombinant innovation is U-shaped,but not inverted U-shaped or negative.Knowledge element structure hole negatively affects recombinant innovation.(2)Knowledge breadth can moderate the relationship between knowledge network structural properties and recombinant innovation,but has no effect on the relationship between tie strength and innovation.Specifically,knowledge breadth can intensify the U-shaped influence of centrality on recombinant innovation,and also strengthen the negative influence of structural hole on recombinant innovation.(3)Knowledge depth can mitigate the negative impact of structural hole on recombinant innovation,but does not moderate the relationship between centrality and recombinant innovation,and between tie strength and recombinant innovation.(4)Structural hole can play a significant role in regulating.When the level of structural hole is high,the U-shaped influence of knowledge element centrality and tie strength on recombinant innovation will be strengthened.This paper can further deepen the understanding of companies and researchers on the relationship between knowledge network properties and recombinant innovation.Under different network properties levels,knowledge elements have different potential to combine with other elements to produce innovation.Companies and researchers can identify the combination potential of knowledge elements not only from the structural and relational properties,but also from various network properties of knowledge elements.
