In recent years,in response to the call for "carbon emission reduction and carbon neutrality",the state has successively introduced policies on various subsidised new energy vehicle industries, making new energy vehicles the focus of attention for all automotive enterprises. The industry chain of new energy vehicles consists of upstream key raw materials and core components, midstream vehicle manufacturing, and downstream charging services and after-market services. The integration of this chain has become a trend for the industry as most automotive enterprises struggle with profitability and new energy vehicle enterprises remain limited to the upstream segment. However, when implementing vertical integration of the chain, many automotive enterprises overlook the strategic guidance on their financial and non-financial performance and fail to integrate capital after mergers and acquisitions. This leads to difficulties in executing their chain strategy and prevents them from achieving its true potential. Moreover, the global automobile industry has been expanding rapidly in recent years, with fierce competition among various domestic and foreign automobile brands. However,in the midst of the fierce competition, automobile company B has continued to rise rapidly and become the leading company in capturing the market. After research, the rapid development of Car Company B is attributed to the scale benefits brought by the company’s total industry chain strategy.By examining the impact of Car Company B’s whole-industry chain strategy, this study can offer valuable insights for other automobile manufacturers’ future development,as well as help to draw lessons and foster the healthy growth of the automobile industry. This paper studies the whole-industry chain strategy of Car Company B and uses the balanced scorecard evaluation method to assess its performance by weighting the key indicators in four dimensions: finance, customers, internal processes, innovation and growth. The four dimensions of the balanced scorecard reveal the impact of the whole-industry chain strategy on Car Company B’s performance and suggest problems and solutions based on this analysis.Based on the research and analysis above, this paper finds that the whole industry chain strategy of B-vehicle enterprises has both pros and cons. The pros are that it can lower the transaction costs of enterprises, ensure the stability of the supply chain and share the innovation costs with upstream and downstream partners. The cons are that it is hard to integrate mergers and acquisitions, the liabilities and risks are higher, the operational capacity is weaker and the market competition is more intense. Therefore, this paper advises that if companies in the new energy vehicle industry chain want to adopt a full industry chain strategy, they should focus on enhancing their post-merger integration and working capital management abilities, and pay attention to risk control and innovation in order to achieve long-term development in the future.
