Coccinae(Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Coccoidea)is one of the most important pests in agriculture, forestry and horticulture. The soft scales are tiny and secretive, usually parasitise branches, leaves and fruits of the host plants. They suck the sap of the host plants, destroy the tissue, affect photosynthesis, then lead to malformation, withering, even death. The paper reviews the historical and current research of Coccinae at home and abroad, elaborates on the identification characters and materials and methods, analyzes the geographic distribution based on the references and specimens. It describes 4 tribes,17 genera and 50 species, including 1 newly recorded genera,5 new species and 6 newly recorded species, and 43 species are illustrated, and the keys to all tribes, genera, species are provided.New species: Coccus qujingensis sp.nov.,Leptopulvinaria menglaensis sp.nov.,Pulvinaria cercisio sp.nov.,Pulvinaria longsetas sp.nov.,Saissetia puerensis sp.nov..Newly recorded genera: Trijuba De Lotto,1975.Newly recorded species: Coccus ficicola Choi & Lee,2018 rec.nov.,Coccus latioperculatum(Green,1922)rec.nov.,Trijuba oculata(Brain,1920)rec.nov.,Pulvinaria decorata Borchsenius,1957 rec.nov.,Saissetia jocunda De Lotto,1957 rec.nov.,Saissetia orbiculata De Lotto,1963 rec.nov..The geographic distribution of the Coccinae in China is analysed. As a result, both genera and species are richer in Oriental region than in Palaearctic region;more genera and species are distributed in South China and Center China. These indicate that the soft scales in China mainly occurs in tropical and subtropical areas.
