Theileria is a Tick borne blood protozoa belonging to family heileriidae, genus Theileria spp.,which parasitizes in red blood cells, lymphocytes or macrophages of goats and sheep, and causes blood protozoosis. The main clinical symptoms of Ovine theileriasis are high fever, insufficient blood supply to the body, anemia, and even hematuria. There is bile pigmentation in skin tissue and some body fluids to form jaundice, which can indirectly lead to symptoms such as walking disorders and lymphadenopathy.Anaplasma phagocytophilum a human-animal pathogen,is transmitted by ticks, posing a significant health risk to humans and animals. The clinical symptom of A.phagocytophilum are fever, characterized mainly by leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and organ dysfunction, and mixed infections of both pathogens are common in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to deepen the investigation of the incidence of Ovine Theileriosis in sheep and to prevent it in time. For this purpose,an epidemiological survey was conducted in five regions of Jilin Province, and 195 sheep blood samples were collected from farms of different sizes in Hunchun,Dunhua,Yanji,Nong’an,and Songyuan areas of Jilin Province. In order to control the occurrence and prevalence of Taylor’s disease and A.phagocytophilum disease in sheep, reduce reproductive losses and improve the quality and safety of sheep products,195 samples were tested using the Nestle PCR assay. The test results showed that 64 positive samples of Theileria spp.were detected in 195 samples, with an infection rate of 32.8%,including 59 positive samples of T.luwenshuni, with an infection rate of 30.2%,T.luwenshuni were detected in all sample areas, and no T.uilenbergi and T.ovis were detected,There were 12 positive samples of A.phagocytophilum, with an infection rate of 6.2%,And no A.phagocytophilum were detected in the sample areas of Songyuan and Nong’an area. There were 10 samples with mixed infections, with an infection rate of 5.1%.Among the sample areas,Hunchun had the highest infection rate, with 45.0% of Ovine Theileriosis and 15.0% of Phagocytophilum Anaplasmosis.Statistical analysis differed significantly between different areas with different feeding patterns and different ages.Differences between different breeds were not significant. The results of this study provide a scientific epidemiological basis for better control and prevention of Ovine Theileriosis and Phagocytophilum Anaplasmosis in sheep in Jilin Province.
