With the rapid development of urbanization in China,the demand for turfgrass is increasing day by day,making the lawn industry in China develop rapidly.The demand for good turfgrass seeds has increased sharply.In the north of China,the summer is hot and rainy,and the winter is cold and dry,so there are few types of turfgrasses with solid regional adaptability.Fescue(Festucarubra)has the advantages of high resistance to adversity,long greening period,and soft-touch,an important grass species used as a turfgrass in northern China.In this study,three germplasm materials of the genus Fescue grown in Hohhot: Festuca dahurica ’Hunshandake’,a new strain of purple fescue(F.rubra L.),and "Meng Shen " purple fescue(F.rubra L.’Maxima’).Different types of fertilizers: nitrogen(N fertilizer),phosphorus and potassium(PK fertilizer),and boron(B fertilizer),were applied at different planting densities during the tasseling and flowering stages to study the seed yield and constitutive factors,photosynthetic characteristics and seed germination of the three germplasm materials of F.rubra L.,and to account for their economic benefits,to provide a basis for seed production and utilization of the three germplasm materials of F.rubra L.in Inner Mongolia.The main research results are as follows.(1)During the tassel stage,application of N fertilizer significantly increased the seed yield of the three fescue varieties(lines),with the new purple fescue strain having a significantly higher seed yield per plant than the other two materials.And the application of N and PK fertilizers significantly improved the germination and vigor of the seeds of the three fescue varieties(lines).(2)After applying the same kind of fertilizer,the highest plant spacing for single seed yield of fescue was 20 cm,and the highest plant spacing for single seed yield of purple fescue new strain and "Meng Shen" purple fescue was 50 cm.(3)The photosynthetic performance of purple fescue and "Meng Shen" purple fescue can be significantly improved by applying N fertilizer,and the photosynthetic performance of Festuca dahurica ’Hunshandake’ can be significantly improved by applying PK fertilizer.(4)The application of N fertilizer could maximize the economic efficiency of both Festuca dahurica ’Hunshandake’ and "Meng Shen" purple fescue;the application of PK fertilizer could maximize the economic efficiency of purple fescue.
