Field cultivation trials were observed at the forage test site of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University in March 2019.The variation characteristics of Agropyron michnoi Roshev.cv.Baiyinxile populations was investigated by measuring growth and development,physiological and biochemical indexes and nutritional indicators,and by clustering analysis,principal component analysis,comprehensive analysis of membership function and gray relational analysis.The results are as follows:(1)There is a large variation in Agropyron michnoi Roshev.cv.Baiyinxile populations.100 single plant samples can be categorized into 12 types of variation according to presence or absence of rhizomes,plant color and plant clump type.Plants with rhizomes were more numerous,accounting for 73%,among which the number of expression type 1(with rhizomes + emerald green + dense clump type)was the largest(21);Plants with fewer rhizomes accounting for 27%,among which the number of expression type 12(without rhizomes + intermediate color + sparse clump type)was the least(1).The plants mainly showed gray or gray-green leaves,dense or sparse clump type,with 207 branches,65.00 cm in height,74.66 g/plant in dry weight,and122-127 days of fertility,which were belong to the plants with rhizomes.(2)The growth and development indexes of the 12 types of variants in Agropyron michnoi Roshev.cv.Baiyinxile were evaluated by principal component analysis.The results showed that the highest score of 1.7416 was expression type 8(with rhizomes + intermediate color + sparse clump type).Followed by 1.52 for expression type 7(with rhizomes + emerald green + sparse clump type).The lowest score of-0.9161 for expression type 12(without rhizomes + intermediate color + sparse clump type).Expression type 8 has excellent traits such as rhizomes,tall plants and large above-ground biomass,which is an excellent germplasm material for breeding high-yielding varieties.(3)To further confirmed the results of phenotypic trait observations,the physiological and biochemical indicators and nutritional indicators of the 12 variant types were carried out.The types with higher photosynthetic capacity were expression type 1 and expression type 7 among the 12 variant types;Meanwhile,resistance indicators of 12 types plants in Agropyron michnoi Roshev.cv.Baiyinxile were analyzed by a comprehensive analysis of membership function,which finally showed that expression type 1 had the strongest resistance ability.Followed by expression type 7that was also superior compared with other types,which indicate the resistance and high yield and quality of each variant types.The nutritional indexes of 12 variant types were measured by the gray relational analysis,which observed that the expression type 1 and 7 who had excellent traits include more developed rhizomes,shorter plant clump and bright green stems and leaves were excellent germplasm materials for breeding ecotype varieties.
