| Beet(Beta vulgaris L.)is one of the important sugar crops in China and one of the characteristic cash crops with regional advantages in Inner Mongolia. In recent years, with the improvement of sugar beet productivity levels, the demand for potassium fertilizer has also increased significantly. At present, the commonly used potassium fertilizers in agricultural production are potassium sulfate and potassium chloride.Affected by traditional concepts, potassium sulfate is still the most commonly used potassium fertilizer in sugar beet production, and there were rarely few reports about the effects of different types of potassium fertilizer application on yield, quality and processing quality in sugar beet in recent years. Therefore, systematically comparing the effects of different types of potassium fertilizer on the growth and development of sugar beet and soil characteristics, and clarifying the suitable type of potassium fertilizer for sugar beet application, can not only provide theoretical basis for selective application of different potassium fertilizer, but also has important reference value for efficient and reasonable potassium fertilizer application in sugar beet production in the future.Based on the current development level of sugar beet productivity, this study systematically studied the effects of potassium chloride and potassium sulfate treatment on sugar beet yield and quality, yield and quality components, processing quality and soil characteristics. The main results are as follows:(1)The application of potassium sulfate and potassium chloride could increase the yield of sugar beet, but application of potassium chloride had no significant effect on sugar beet;(2)Compared with potassium chloride fertilizer, potassium sulfate can increase the number of beet leaves, improve photosynthetic capacity, promote the timely transfer of growth centers, improve dry matter accumulation and rational distribution, increase sugar content of beet, and reduce both of chloride accumulation and residue of harmful ash in root tubers;(3)The application of potassium chloride fertilizer would lead to decrease in soil p H and increase in soil salt content, which might potentially inhibit the absorption of nitrogen and phosphorus in sugar beet.(4)It is not recommended to use potassium chloride as the main type of potassium fertilizer for sugar beet cultivation in order to ensure sustained high yield and sugar content. |
