Paeonia rockii is widely distributed,with tall plant shape,cold-resistant and drought-tolerant,high yielding and rich in unsaturated fatty acids,making it ideal for breeding tall and large peony varieties.The phenological and phenotypic characteristics of 8-year-old Paeonia rockii collected from Lintao,Gansu Province.The evaluation system of ornamental and oil of Paeonia rockii was established by Analytic hierarchy process and principal component analysis.According to the evaluation results,which plants were suitable for ornamental and which were suitable for oil? Which can be used for both oil and gas? Finally,a group of individual tree materials with high shape,high ornamental value or good fruit,high oil yield were screened,which provided material basis for the cultivation of new varieties of tree peony with high size or oil outlook.The main findings include:1.According to the analysis of phenological period,there were 7 early florescence plants and 8 late florescence plants.2.The yield per plant and oil yield,fruit weight,effective fruit number,fruit diameter,fruit angle length,pod weight,fruit angle width,fruit width,fruit weight per fruit,number of seeds per plant,horizontal seed diameter,vertical seed diameter,plant height,crown width,florescence,flower bud number,growth potential,flower diameter and plant type were significantly positively correlated.The flower color was positively correlated with the color of newborn leaves,petal shape and filament color.3.An analytic hierarchy process is employed to construct the model of ornamental evaluation.The 64 Paeonia rockii were divided into 4 grades.Grade I(excellent)included 12 strains,accounting for 18.75% of the total.There were 16 Grade II(good)plants,their ornamental quality was slightly worse than Grade I plants,but their overall characters were good,grade III contains 22 plants,accounting for 34.38% of the total,these plants have low ornamental,some characters have some defects,the plants occupy the majority;There were14 plants of grade IV(poor),which had low ornamental quality and poor performance,so it was not recommended to use them.4.Through the analytic hierarchy process,ZB7-2,ZB5-1,ZB6-1,ZB2-12,ZB2-8,ZB2-9,ZB2-11,ZB6-12,ZB3-6,ZB4-1,ZB1-1,ZB6-4 were selected.By principal component analysis,ZB5-1,ZB7-2,ZB6-4,ZB3-6,ZB6-5,ZB6-12,ZB1-1,ZB2-12,ZB5-8,ZB2-8,ZB6-1,ZB2-9,ZB9-3,ZB8-5 were selected as suitable ornamental plants.Ten individual plants were selected as the final ornamental plants,which were ZB7-2,ZB5-1,ZB6-1,ZB2-12,ZB2-8,ZB2-9,ZB6-12,ZB3-6,ZB1-1,ZB6-4 respectively.5.Establish the evaluation model of oil use by AHP.There was a big difference in the value of 56 Paeonia rockii oils.According to the law of normal distribution,56 individual plants were divided into 4 grades.There were 10 excellent single plants of Grade I,accounting for 17.86% of the total,which had many effective fruits,high yield and oil content per plant,and had great potential for oil breeding;11(19.64%)superior plants in Grade II,which had good value of oil,some character was outstanding and was used selectively;27plants in Grade III,accounting for 48.21% of the total.The oil characters of these plants are general,the majority of the plants are conservative;and there were 8 inferior plants of grade IV,accounting for 14.29%.The oil value of this kind of plants was low,and the performance of each character was poor,so it was not recommended to use.6.Through the analytic hierarchy process,the suitable plants for oil use were ZB2-9,ZB6-1,ZB4-1,ZB6-4,ZB2-10,ZB7-2,ZB2-11,ZB1-1,ZB4-3,ZB6-13.By principal component analysis,ZB6-1,ZB6-4,ZB4-1,ZB7-2,ZB2-9,ZB2-10,ZB4-3,ZB2-11,ZB1-1,ZB2-5,ZB6-13,ZB3-6,ZB2-8,ZB3-1,ZB6-12,ZB2-4 were selected as suitable plants for oil.There were 10 individual plants which were suitable for oil use by the two methods,which were ZB2-9,ZB6-1,ZB4-1,ZB6-4,ZB2-10,ZB7-2,ZB2-11,ZB1-1,ZB4-3,ZB6-13 respectively.7.Based on the comprehensive analysis of the evaluation results,there are five plants suitable for the dual-purpose of oil view,which are ZB2-9,ZB6-1,ZB6-4,ZB7-2 and ZB1-1,respectively.These plants are tall and round,with strong erectiveness and long flowering period,under the background of dense green leaves,the huge flowers bloomed brilliantly,showing their grace and nobility,and the fruit-bearing was good in autumn,with more effective fruits and high oil content,the later stage can be taken as the key breeding object.
