The Ornamental Evaluation Of Lily Based On Analytic Hierarchy Process

Lily is a widely used ornamental flower.At present,China’s lily industry imports large quantities of bulbs from abroad and lacks lily cultivars of independent intellectual property;a large part of the existing ornamental lily species and cultivars have not been sufficiently developed and utilized;many lily species and cultivars from traditional producing regions face the problems of species degeneration,serious disease and yield decline,so it is urgent to improve existing species and cultivate new cultivars;the status quo of ornamental lily industry suffers from limited choices of species and cultivars;currently,a large number of ornamental lily species still wait to be comprehensively evaluated and studied for their ornamental value,and standards of reference are in urgent need for advancing work in cultivar improvement,new cultivar cultivation,application and promotion.In order to screen out more high-quality and ornamental lily cultivars,the ornamental evaluation of 37 selected lily species was conducted based on the analytic hierarchy process.In this paper,the flower characteristics,stem and leaf characteristics and other traits of plants are taken as the criterion layer;with reference to the lily-related indicators listed in the international UPOV standard,a total of 17 evaluation indicators are specified as the indicators for the ornamental evaluation of lilies,including flower color,flower type,flower orientation,flower fragrance,flower diameter,perianth length,plant height,stem thickness,plant type,leaf length,leaf color,leaf gloss,leaf density,flowering days,flowers per plant,flowering rate,diseases and pests and defects.The evaluation model is built in the analytic hierarchy process software.Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)is used to calculate the weight ratio of each indicator.The scoring criteria of each index are determined by combining literature research,expert advice,median of the sample,and with reference to national and industry standards,including the national standard GB/T41200-2021 cut lily grade of oriental lily,the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs standard NY/T3706-2020 cut lily grade,the current standard of the Beijing Flower Association: technical regulations for cut lily production(standard number/plan number LY/T 1913-2010),the standard of the main flower product grade GB/T18247.1-2000 Part I for the classification of cut lily grade.The results of final ornamental evaluations are as follows:(1)The evaluation index information of 37 cultivars of lilies was summarized,and it was found that the most prominent cultivars of flower traits were: Pink planet,Eagle Eyes,Hotel California,Easy Fantasy,Easy Beat,Pieton;The varieties with outstanding stem and leaf characters include: Easy Beat,Fata Morgana,Pearl Frances,Pearl Loraine;Other cultivars with outstanding characteristics are: Pieton,Eagle Eyes,Pink Planet;(2)A tri-tiered ornamental evaluation system consisting of 1 objective,3criteria and 17 indicators was successfully established.The weight ratio of each index was successfully calculated by setting the judgment matrix using the analytic hierarchy process,which was 0.6483(including flower color 0.2825,flower type 0.1326,flower direction 0.0800,flower fragrance 0.0800,flower diameter 0.0492,perianth length 0.0240),0.2297(including plant height 0.0773,stem diameter 0.0113,plant type 0.0503,leaf length 0.0113,leaf color 0.0305,leaf gloss 0.0305,leaf density 0.0184)Other characters 0.1220(flowering days0.0347,number of flowers per plant 0.0577,flowering rate 0.0089,disease and insect pests and defects 0.0207),The weight of decor and pattern is relatively large.(3)Score with each indicator × The total score per evaluation per cultivar can be obtained by adding the corresponding index weight ratio.The cultivars are ordered by this score from high to low as: Pink Planet,Eagle Eyes,Hotel California,Easy Fantasy,Easy Beat,Zelmira,Pieton,November Rain,Pearl Frances,Red Velvet,Pearl Loraine,Honor Moon,Yellow Cocotte,Beijing Moon,Bright Tower,Performer,Easy Waltz,Fata Morgana,Judith,Pearl White,Mister Cas,Sweet Surrender,Black Beauty,Tiny Double You,Stracciatella Event,Pink Flight,Speciosum Uchida,Strawberry Event,The Edge,White Twinkle,Samantha,Captain Tricolor,Triumphator,Miss Peculiar,Fusion,Must see,Lorena;(4)Based on the above scores,37 cultivars of lilies are eventually divided into 4 Classes according to the scores of the scoring criteria and expert advice.There are seven cultivars in Class I,including Pink Planet,Eagle Eyes,Hotel California,Easy Fantasy,Easy Beat,Zelmira and Pieton;flowers of this class are of superior ornamental value,suitable for vigorous promotion and extensive use.There are 12 cultivars in Class II,being the November Rain,Pearl Frances,Red Velvet,Pearl Loraine,Honor Moon,Yellow Cocotte,Beijing Moon,Bright Tower,Performer,Easy Waltz,Fata Morgana,Judith;flowers of this class are of high ornamental value,suitable for promotion and general use.There are 11 cultivars in Class III,including: Pearl White,Mister Cas,Sweet Surrender,Black Beauty,Tiny Double You,Stracciatella Event,Pink Flight,Speciosum Uchida,Strawberry Event,The Edge,White Twinkle;flowers of this class are of general ornamental value,the ornamental value is relatively ordinary and can be popularized and applied.Seven cultivars in Class IV,including Samantha,Captain Tricolor,Triumphator,Miss Peculiar,Fusion,Must see,Lorena;The ornamental value is relatively ordinary and can be promoted and applied as needed.The results of this ornamental evaluation can provide a basis and reference for the future market development of fine cultivars,improvement of native species,germplasm innovation and molecular breeding.
