Objective To investigate the obesity rate of college students in Guangxi Medical University base on the three criteria of body mass index, body fat rate and waist-to-hip ratio. At the same time, the correlation between vital capacity index and fat distribution was analyzed to provide a theoretical basis for improving the lung function and body fat distribution of college students. Methods A random sampling method was used to select 2207 undergraduates from Guangxi Medical University, aged between 18-25,including607 males and 1,600 females.the body composition analyzer MC-180(TANITA,Japan)was used to measures the body composition of subjects, including fat free mass, fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue, subcutaneous adipose tissue, body mass index, body fat rate and waist-to-hip ratio.the height, weight, vital capacity, and vital capacity index of college students measured according to the "National Student Physical Health Standard(Revised in 2014)".Spss 23.0statistical analysis software was used for statistical analysis. Results 1.Fat parameters and lung function parameters: male visceral fat area, body mass index,waist-to-hip ratio, vital capacity, vital capacity index were greater than females(P<0.05),fat mass, subcutaneous adipose tissue, and body fat rate were smaller than females(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in visceral adipose tissue between the two groups(P>0.05).2.Obesity rate: Under the body mass index standard, the male, female, and overall obesity rates were 2.3%,0.4%,and 1%;under the body fat rate standard, the male, female, and overall obesity rates were 2.3%.,0.3%,0.9%;under the waist-to-hip ratio standard, the obesity rates of male, female, and overall were: 13.5%,12.2%,and 12.5%,respectively.Under the standards of body mass index and body fat rate, the obesity rate of male in this school was higher than that of females(P<0.01).Under the standard of waist-to-hip ratio, there was no statistically significant difference in the rate of abdominal obesity between males and females(P>0.05).3.Male fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue, and subcutaneous adipose tissue showed an upward trend with the increase of body mass index and body fat rate grade(all P<0.05),vital capacity index increased with body mass index and body fat rate grade(all P<0.05),vital capacity increased significantly when the body mass index reached overweight(all P<0.05).Female fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue, and subcutaneous adipose tissue showed an upward trend with the increase of body mass index and body fat rate grade(all P<0.05),the vital capacity index decreased significantly When body mass index reached overweight or body fat rate reached high body fat(all P<0.05).Whatever gender,Abdominal obesity group had larger fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue, subcutaneous adipose tissue, and vital capacity than waist-to-hip normal group(all P<0.05),vital capacity and body mass index was smaller than waist-to-hip normal group(all P<0.05).4.The fat mass, visceral fat area, subcutaneous adipose tissue, body mass index, body fat percentage,waist-to-hip ratio of the male vital capacity index the good group and the excellent group were smaller than those of the failing group and the passing group(all P<0.05),the fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue, subcutaneous adipose tissue, body mass index, body fat rate,waist-to-hip ratio of the passing group were smaller than those of the failing group(all P<0.05).Female vital capacity, body mass index, fat mass, visceral adipose tissue, subcutaneous adipose tissue, body mass index, body fat percentage,waist-to-hip ratio of the good group and excellent group were smaller than those of the failing group and the passing group(all P<0.05),the fat mass, visceral adipose tissue, subcutaneous adipose tissue, body mass index, body fat percentage,waist-to-hip ratio were smaller than the failing group(all P<0.05),and the visceral fat area of the passing group, good group and excellent group was smaller than the failing group.(all P<0.05).5.Under the standard of body mass index, male and female vital capacity index failure groups were concentrated in the overweight and obese group(male54.9%,85.7%;female 58.3%,100%),and excellent vital capacity index groups were concentrated in the underweight group and weight group.Normal group(male 16.1%,11.1%;female 7.1%,3.4%).Under the body fat rate standard, the male and female vital capacity index failing groups were concentrated in the high body fat group and the obese group(male 56.7%,71.4%;female 66.7%,100%),and the excellent vital capacity index group is concentrated in the low body fat group and normal body fat group(male 15.9%,8.5%;female 7.3%,3.5%).Under the standard of waist-to-hip ratio, male and female vital capacity index failures were concentrated in the abdominal obesity group(male 58.5%,female 36.1%),and people with excellent vital capacity index were concentrated in the normal waist-to-hip ratio group(male 12.8%,female 4.8%).6.Partial correlation analysis: male and female vital capacity index had significant negative correlation with fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue and subcutaneous adipose tissue(all r<0,all P<0.01).Among them, male vital capacity index had the largest correlation coefficient with visceral fat area(r=-0.290,P<0.01);female vital capacity index had the largest correlation coefficient with subcutaneous adipose tissue(r=-0.216,P<0.01).7.Based on body mass index, body fat rate,waist-to-hip ratio,in normal weight group, normal body fat group,waist-to-hip ratio normal group, male vital capacity index had significant negative correlation with fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue and subcutaneous adipose tissue(all r<0,all P<0.01),and the correlation coefficient with visceral fat area was the largest(r values were-0.250,-0.238,-0.202,all P<0.01).Female low body weight group, low body fat group Vital Capacity Index was significantly negatively correlated with fat mass, visceral adipose tissue and subcutaneous adipose tissue(all r<0,all P<0.01),and had the largest correlation coefficient with subcutaneous adipose tissue(r values were-0.147,-0.169,P<0.01);Female normal weight group, normal body fat group, and normal waist-to-hip ratio group vital capacity Index was significantly negatively correlated with fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue and subcutaneous adipose tissue(all r<0,all P<0.01),and the correlation coefficient of subcutaneous adipose tissue was the largest(r values were-0.116,-0.114,-0.186,all P<0.01);In overweight + obesity group, abdominal obesity group,Female vital capacity index was significantly negatively correlated with fat mass, visceral fat area, visceral adipose tissue and subcutaneous adipose tissue(all r<0,all P<0.01),The correlation coefficient in female overweight + obesity group with visceral fat area was the largest(r value-0.471,P<0.01),and the correlation coefficient in female abdominal obesity group was the largest(r value-0.270,P<0.01).8.Multiple linear regression analysis: visceral fat area was a negative influencing factor of male vital capacity index, and subcutaneous fat was a negative influencing factor of female vital capacity index. Conclusions 1.Under the standards of body mass index and body fat rate, the obesity rate of male was higher than that of female.Under the standard of waist-to-hip ratio, there was no statistically significant difference in obesity rates between male and female. There were differences in the comparison of obesity rates under different criteria.2.The lung function of college students was closely related to fat distribution Vital capacity index were more negatively with visceral fat area in male but with subcutaneous adipose tissue for female.3.Reducing fat distribution may have value in preventing the decline of lung function among college students.
