| Objectives:To explore the clinical significance of the expression of interleukin-36γ(IL-36γ)in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)by analyzing the relationship between IL-36γand sputum neutrophil count and lung function, which through investigating the IL-36γand the sputum neutrophil count in the sputum of COPD in acute exacerbation and stable stage and detecting lung function at the same time. Methods:From January 2019 to October 2020,21 patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD),20 patients with stable COPD and 20 healthy volunteers recruited in the same period were randomly selected to collect sputum samples.Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was used to detect the content of IL-36γin the supernatant of sputum samples. The number of neutrophils in sputum sediment smears was counted. The changes of IL-36γand neutrophils in different periods and the relationship between IL-36γand lung function, neutrophils were analyzed.Results:1.There was no significant difference in general information(gender, age)between acute exacerbation of COPD group, stable COPD group and control group(P>0.05 and P>0.05).2.The content of IL-36γin sputum of patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.01 and P<0.05);the content of IL-36γin patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was higher than that of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(P<0.05).3.The neutrophil count of sputum smear in acute exacerbation of COPD group was significantly higher than that in stable COPD group and control group(P<0.01,P<0.01),and that in stable COPD group was higher than that in control group(P<0.01).4.The expression of IL-36γin sputum was positively correlated with neutrophil count in sputum smear in acute exacerbation of COPD group and stable COPD group(r=0.459,P<0.05 and r=0.438,P<0.05);the expression of IL-36γin sputum was negatively correlated with forced expiratory volume in the first second in percent predicted values(FEV1%pred)in acute exacerbation of COPD group and stable COPD group(r=-0.462,P<0.05 and r=-0.462,P<0.05);neutrophil count in sputum smear was negatively correlated with lung function(FEV1%pred)in acute exacerbation of COPD group and stable COPD group(r=-0.453,P<0.05 and r=-0.504,P<0.05)。Conclusions:The expression of IL-36γin sputum of patients with acute exacerbation and stable COPD is increased, and the expression of IL-36γin sputum of patients with acute exacerbation is higher than that of patients with stable COPD.The expression of IL-36γin sputum of patients with acute exacerbation and stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was positively correlated with neutrophil count, and IL-36γand neutrophil count in sputum of patients with acute exacerbation and stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was negatively correlated with lung function(FEV1%pred).IL-36γmay play a role in recruiting neutrophils to accumulate in the airway of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and promoting injury of airway. |
