A Study Of Body Representation Of Healthy Individuals And Schizophrenia Spectrum

As the carrier of human consciousness and behavior,the body has always been the focus of many disciplines and interdisciplinary studies,and it has also become the subject of many fields of psychology.Body representation is the mapping of the body in the brain,and it is the product of a complex multi-sensory system,which integrates visual touch Information from the proprioception and vestibular system,information from these representations is closely integrated with the behavioral control system,enabling us to effectively take action on the environment.Some researchers believe that body representation can be divided into three parts,namely,body schema,body structural description and body semantics.Existing studies found that aging also affects the performance related to the body with the aging of healthy people,and these defects seriously interfere with the life of the elderly.Therefore,our study explored the body representation of healthy people to find the mechanism of aging affecting the body representation.Existing studies also have shown that patients with schizophrenia and their high-risk groups exist body self damage,its body representation and body ownership possible defects,these body self damage seriously affect the daily life of the patients with schizophrenia,find out the schizophrenia and high-risk groups of body self defect mechanism for the treatment of patients and clinical intervention will have important significance.In this research,experiment 1 study characteristics of body representation of different age groups,the Hand Laterality task was used in the first task of experiment 1to explore the body schema characteristics of subjects,asked participants to determine the computer screen is displayed on the left hand or right hand,and the results show that the elderly and middle-aged adults,middle-aged and young,the elderly and the young response when there are significant differences;In the second task,Finger Localization task was used to explore body structural representation of the subjects.The results showed that when the hands of the subjects were hidden from sight and the subjects were asked to identify the fingers touched by the subjects,the accuracy of the young,middle-aged and old people were significantly different.In the third task,the Matching body parts to objects was used to study the body semantic characteristics of people of different ages.Subjects were asked to match objects on the computer screen with body parts.The results showed that there was a significant difference between the accuracy of young and old people.Experiment 2 study characteristics of body representation and sense of body ownership of schizophrenia spectrum,the Hand Laterality task was used in the first task to screen with the body parts of the subjects;In the fourth task,the rubber hand illusion tasks and proprioception migration task was used to study the sense of body ownership characteristics of subjects,the participants in the main rubber hand illusion task requires test synchronization rubber with a brush and real hand after the rubber hand illusion filling out a questionnaire,the results showed that there was no significant difference between three groups of participants,proprioception migration task is the eye of the brush in hand after the subjects covered,The subjects were asked to slide their right index finger along the edge of the table to indicate where their left index finger was.The results showed that the three groups indicated that the position of their left hand was shifted toward the rubber hand.There was significant difference between the high and low schizoid groups and the schizophrenia group,but no difference between the schizoid group.The correlation analysis of rubber hand illusion,proprioceptive offset and body schema task showed that there was a significant negative correlation between proprioceptive offset and response time of body schema task,namely,the larger the proprioceptive offset was,the longer the response time of body schema was.The correlation analysis of rubber hand illusion,proprioceptive offset and body structure description task found that proprioceptive offset had a significant positive correlation with the accuracy of body structure description task,that is,the larger the proprioceptive offset,the lower the accuracy of body structure description task.The correlation analysis of rubber hand illusion,proprioceptive offset and body semantic task showed that there was no significant correlation between proprioceptive offset,rubber hand illusion and the accuracy of body semantic task.Research is the cognitive styles of patients with schizophrenia,mental rotation and physical characterization of correlation analysis,cognitive style and mental rotation scale to measure,the results found that mental rotation three significant positive correlation with body structure describes the task,cognitive style,mental rotation and body schema,semantic there is no significant correlation.The results of this study suggest that aging and schizophrenia do affect body representation,and that body representation interacts with other physical indicators,providing evidence that since all human interactions depend on body representation.Therefore,this study also contributes to the exploration of the mechanism behind the delayed behavioral response of the elderly and the abnormal interaction between schizophrenics and the outside world,and provides a perspective for intervention to improve the quality of life of the elderly and patients.In addition,this study found that individuals with schizotypal personality had no physical abnormalities,which needs to be further discussed.Finally,cognitive style and mental rotation were not associated with body representation deficits in schizophrenia.
