Hetu-Based Five Elements And Their Relationship With “Spleen Having Non-Dominant Season”

Objective: According to the traditional cultural structure of “natural science(calendar)-natural philosophy-moral philosophy”,this paper attempts to explore the temporal and spatial background of the Hetu-based five elements through the unity of temperament and calendar,and then explore the natural philosophy connotation of the Hetu-based five elements.The background of the theory of “spleen having non-dominant season” is the theory of visceral manifestation–season correspondence.This paper attempts to explore the natural philosophy and moral philosophy basis of the corresponding theory of manifestation–season correspondence under the background of the unity of temperament and calendar.Methods: The methods of literature review and logical speculation were applied to summarize the context of Hetu-based five elements and demonstrate its essential connotation.By means of literature review and philosophical speculation,this paper demonstrates the occurrence and connotation of moral philosophy under the unity of temperament and calendar.According to the unity of heaven and man in moral philosophy,this paper discusses the theoretical basis of “five viscera corresponding to five elements”by analogical reasoning.Moreover,it constructs the theoretical basis of “spleen having non-dominant season” by using the method of logical analysis.Results: The space-time background of Hetu-based five elements is the concept of time and space of temperament and calendar.The connotation of Hetu-based five elements is the “primordial qi–four seasons” model in the way of heaven and earth biochemistry.The Hetu-based five elements have the dual connotation of qi and image.Visceral manifestation–season correspondence as the theoretical basis of the theory of “spleen having non-dominant season” is constructed by Hetu-based five elements.The corresponding theoretical basis of “seasons-five elements” is the natural philosophical concept philosophy under the background of the concept of time and space,and the corresponding theoretical basis of “five elements–visceral manifestation” is the harmony between man and nature under moral philosophy.Taoism integrates Laozi ’s moral philosophy with natural philosophy and the natural science(calendar)in unity of temperament and calendar to construct the theoretical structure of “visceral manifestation–five elements-seasons”.The corresponding theory of “visceral manifestation–seasons” as the theoretical basis of the theory of “spleen having non-dominant season” is constructed by Hetu-based five elements.Conclusion: The Hetu-based five elements is a natural philosophy under the context of traditional natural science and calendar.The natural philosophy connotation of Hetu-based five elements is a model of the way to heaven and earth.The way to heaven and earth biochemistry expound the transformation,storage,catharsis and movement of heaven and earth,whose structure is “primordial qi-yin and yang-four seasons-five elements”.As the five elements are the model of the combination of primordial qi and four seasons,the way of heaven and earth is not only the mechanism of heaven and earth transforming everything,but also the internal mechanism of self-existence of heaven and earth.Based on the biochemical way of heaven and earth,Laozi creatively constructed moral philosophy,which explains how heaven and earth are generated and survived in the universe and demonstrates that people have the same origin and connotation as heaven and earth.Moral philosophy is the theoretical basis of “harmony between man and nature”,while “five elements-visceral manifestation” is the result of it in medical theory.“Spleen having non-dominant season” is originated from a complicated context,which is closely related to the academic origin of Huang-Lao Taoism.The theory of “spleen having non-dominant season” reflects the corresponding one of “visceral manifestation-seasons”,which is the comprehensive application of moral philosophy,natural philosophy and natural science.The theory of the Harmony between man and nature in moral philosophy has generated the corresponding theory of “visceral manifestation-five elements”,while the calendar in unity of natural philosophy and calendar has generated the corresponding theory of “five elements-seasons”.Under the control of moral philosophy,the corresponding theory of “visceral manifestation-five elements-seasons” can be logically constructed,and the corresponding theory of “visceral manifestation-seasons” is finally established through the Hetu-based five elements.
