| Objective To explore the current situation and influencing factors of specialty identity and learning burnout among preventive medicine undergraduates in medical colleges and universities of Liaoning Province during the period of COVID-19,and analyze the relationship between them.To enrich domestic research and discussion on public health and preventive medicine talents, provide scientific basis for optimizing preventive medicine specialty education, and strengthen domestic support for the training of public health talents. Methods An electronic questionnaire survey was conducted among undergraduates majoring in preventive medicine from four medical colleges in Liaoning Province from June 2021 to June 2022 by using the method of current situation survey. The questionnaire includes self-designed general situation questionnaire, college students specialty identity scale, college students learning burnout scale.SPSS27.0 was used for statistical analysis, and T-test,variance analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to study whether there were statistical differences in scores of specialty identity and learning burnout among preventive medicine undergraduates with different variables.Pearson correlation analysis and canonical correlation analysis were used to explore the relationship between specialty identity and learning burnout.ResultsCollege student specialty identity scale and college student learning burnout scale both have good reliability and validity. The average score of specialty identity of preventive medicine undergraduates was(3.97±0.54),and the scores of cognitive, affective and behavioral dimensions were significantly higher than those of relevance dimensions(P < 0.05).Univariate analysis showed that there was statistical significance in 8 variables including professional satisfaction of students from different places of origin and family members(P < 0.05).Students with high degree of specialty satisfaction of their family members,no intention of changing majors, high degree of course satisfaction, high degree of importance of their major in fighting the epidemic, and high degree of specialty identity of the students whose heroic deeds of fighting the epidemic can firm medical belief(P< 0.05).The differences of scores of each dimension in multiple variables were statistically significant(P < 0.05).The average total score of preventive medical students’ learning burnout was(2.59±0.51),and 276(25.6%)students had learning burnout. The score of depression and improper behavior were significantly higher than that of low sense of achievement(P < 0.05).Univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the learning burnout level of preventive medical students in 9 variables including gender and place of origin(P < 0.05).The level of learning burnout of male, senior, low course satisfaction, heroic deeds against COVID-19 and employment anxiety students was high(P < 0.05).The differences of scores of each dimension in multiple variables were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that specialty identity and learning burnout were negatively correlated with each dimension, and the correlation coefficient ranged from-0.147 to-0.636(P < 0.05).The canonical correlation results showed that there were two pairs of canonical variables with statistical significance(P < 0.05),the canonical correlation coefficients were 0.697 and0.232,respectively,and the contribution rates were 93.85% and 5.65%,respectively.Conclusions1.The level of specialty identity of preventive medicine undergraduates is high and the level of learning burnout is medium.2.Family members’ satisfaction with their major, whether classmates around them have the intention to change their major, course satisfaction, the importance of their major in fighting the epidemic and whether the heroic deeds of fighting the epidemic can strengthen their medical belief are factors influencing specialty identity.Gender, grade, course satisfaction, whether the heroic deeds against COVID-19 can strengthen the medical belief and employment anxiety are the influencing factors of learning burnout.3.There is an obvious negative correlation between specialty identity and learning burnout. It can improve the level of specialty identity and reduce the level of learning burnout of preventive medicine students from the aspects of optimizing the curriculum system and strengthening the construction of medical ethics. |
