Background: Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2019,the staff of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(hereinafter referred to as CDC staff)have devoted themselves to the fight against the epidemic.Hubei Province,as the main battlefield in the fight against the new crown pneumonia virus, has withstood a major test for disease control personnel in the province. With the implementation of the "Healthy China Action",the service content of health work has changed, and the identity of CDC staff may also change.Continuing to participate in the frontline of the fight against the epidemic, whether the self-identity and occupational health status of disease control personnel have changed, and the degree of occupational burnout are also worthy of attention. There are few studies on the sense of identity of the CDC staff in the existing literature. What is the relationship between identity and job burnout and how to effectively regulate it are worthy of more in-depth research. Objective: Based on the job-resources-demands model, this study explores the relationship between disease control personnel’s identity and job burnout during the normalization of epidemic prevention and control,as well as the influence of organizational support, role overload and other factors. On this basis, methods to enhance the identity of CDC staff and countermeasures to alleviate burnout are proposed to promote the occupational health of disease control personnel and stabilize the disease control team.At the same time, people should pay more attention to disease control groups,so as to better cooperate with disease control personnel to implement public health services and promote the Healthy China strategy. Methods: Taking the CDC staff of Shiyan city as the research object, questionnaire and interview were used to conduct the research. In the first part, identity scale, job burnout scale,self-efficacy scale, organizational support scale, role overload scale and disease control personnel basic situation questionnaire were used to carry out a questionnaire survey, and 278 valid questionnaires were collected.SPSS 24.0 was used for descriptive analysis,T-test,one-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation analysis. The software Amos 24.0 was used to test the validity of the scale, and the PROCESS program developed by Hayes was used to test the mediation and moderating effects. In the second part,9 county and municipal CDC staff with different working years were selected for interviews.Nvivo 12 Plus software was used to analyze the interview data and further supplement and explain the content of the questionnaire survey.Results:1.The average score for identity items was 4.23,the average score for self-efficacy was 3.21,the average score for organizational support was 4.98,the average score for job burnout was 1.77,and the average score for role overload was 3.33.2.Correlation analysis: The identity of CDC staff was negatively correlated with job burnout(P<0.01),but positively correlated with self-efficacy and organizational support(P<0.01);Self-efficacy was positively correlated with organizational support(P<0.01)and negatively correlated with job burnout(P<0.01);Role overload of CDC staff was positively correlated with job burnout(P<0.01),and negatively correlated with identity and organizational support(P<0.01).3.Difference analysis: The higher the score of identity and self-efficacy of the CDC with interest in work and good health, the lower the degree of job burnout.Identity and self-efficacy decreased with the increase of educational background, but increased with the increase of job familiarity. There was a U-shaped correlation between perceived organizational support and the age and working years of CDC staff, while the performance of role overload was higher in male than female, and higher in married than unmarried personnel.4.Analysis of mediating effects:(1)with identity as the independent variable and job burnout as the dependent variable,self-efficacy accounted for 21% of the mediating effect of identity on job burnout, and organizational support moderated the first half of the mediating effect.(2)With role overload as independent variable and job burnout as dependent variable, identity accounted for 13.6% of the mediating effect of role overload on job burnout, and perceived organizational support moderated the effect of role overload on job burnout.5.Analysis of interview data:(1)The coverage rate of positive emotion among CDC staff is lower than that of negative emotion, and male employees have lower positive emotion than female employees during the epidemic period, which makes them more prone to job burnout.(2)The personal identity of the CDC staff is good, but there is still a gap between social identity and group identity, and the self-efficacy is decreasing.(3)Identity was strongly correlated with job burnout, which influenced the degree of job burnout of CDC staff. Both of them are influenced by the long-term and sudden characteristics of disease control work,as well as the work environment such as unit support and government attention. Conclusion: The city’s CDC staff have a good sense of identity, but they suffer from job burnout and role overload.Identity can directly predict job burnout, and it can also predict job burnout through the intermediary of self-efficacy.When role overload is used as a antecedent variable, identity can also be used as an intermediate variable to affect job burnout. Both action pathways are regulated by the sense of organizational support. In the later stage, government departments should attach importance to and support the work of CDC,and disease control institutions should strengthen their attention to the mental health of employees.
