OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical efficacy of the method of warming the kidney and strengthening the spleen in treating the deficiency of spleen and kidney yang in Parkinson’s disease, and to evaluate its effectiveness and safety.METHODS: The 60 patients who met the criteria were randomly divided into two groups: the control group and the observation group, each with30 cases. The control group was treated with levodopa and benserazide tablets and conventional treatment of blood glucose, blood pressure, blood lipids and other basic diseases, while the observation group was given the basic treatment combined with Zhen Wu Tang plus flavor from the Treatise on Typhoid, and the treatment course was 8 weeks. At the end of the treatment, the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS III III),39-item Parkinson’s disease quality of Life questionnaire(PDQ-39)and traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scale scores of the two groups before and after treatment were statistically analyzed by SPSS26.0 software, and adverse events were recorded.Results:1.1 case was excluded and 1 case was shed in the observation group and 2 cases were shed in the control group. The final sample size for both groups entering the trial was 28 cases.2.Comparison of UPDRS scores: After treatment, the total UPDRS score decreased from(54.21±7.30)to(37.11±5.49)in the observation group and from(53.36±8.43)to(45.04±5.50)in the control group, the scores decreased in both groups after treatment, and the decrease was more significant in the observation group(P<0.05);the UPDRS Ⅰ,UPDRS Ⅱ and UPDRS Ⅲ scores in both groups were all lower than before(P<0.05),and the observation group was significantly better than the control group(P<0.05).3.Comparison of TCM evidence points: After treatment, the TCM evidence points decreased from(27.14±4.93)to(11.57±4.50)in the observation group and from(26.04±4.44)to(18.21±4.83)in the control group, both protocols were able to reduce the TCM evidence points of the patients, and the effect of the observation group was better(P<0.05);the individual scores of the observation group before and after treatment The observation group had a significant reduction in each individual score before and after treatment(P<0.05),while the control group only had a reduction in 4 main symptoms scores before and after treatment(P<0.05),and the observation group was better than the control group in reducing the 2 main symptoms of tremor(head/limb),reduced movement/clumsiness and other secondary symptoms scores(P<0.05).The effective rate of the observation group(92.86%)was significantly higher than that of the control group(60.71%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Comparison of PDQ-39 scale: After treatment, the PDQ-39 score decreased from(49.64±16.73)to(34.57±12.41)in the observation group and from(50.18±15.36)to(42.25±12.52)in the control group, both groups’ scores decreased after treatment compared with those before treatment, and the decrease was more significant in the observation group(P<0.05).5.Safety evaluation: There were no significant adverse reactions in both groups.CONCLUSION: Warming the kidney and strengthening the spleen is an effective treatment for Parkinson’s disease with spleen and kidney yang deficiency. The combination of basic treatment with Zhen Wu Tang Plus based on this method is effective and can significantly improve motor function and other non-motor symptoms in PD patients, and is well tolerated with high safety and no significant adverse effects.
