Objective:Xin’an medicine originates from the ancient Huizhou region and is a part of Huizhou culture,as well as a medical school with profound cultural heritage,fruitful academic achievements and far-reaching historical influence in traditional Chinese medicine.During the Ming and Qing dynasties,as the Huizhou merchants went out to do business,a large number of Xin’an medical practitioners migrated to Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions and widely spread Xin’an medicine through various medical activities.This paper takes communication science as the research perspective,describes the general situation of the spread of Xin’an medicine in Jiangsu and Zhejiang during the Ming and Qing dynasties,composes the overall framework of the spread of Xin’an medicine,summarizes the historical significance and lessons learned in the spread of Xin’an medicine,reveals some laws of the phenomenon of medical spread,and provides some thoughts and references for the inheritance and development of Xin’an medicine and even Chinese medicine.Methods:This paper mainly adopts three research methods.The first is the documentary research method,which collects historical documents related to the spread of Xin’an medicine in Jiangsu and Zhejiang during the Ming and Qing dynasties,sorts out and summarizes the primary data,outlines the general framework of the spread of Xin’an medicine on this basis,and depicts the spread of Xin’an medicine in Jiangsu and Zhejiang during the Ming and Qing dynasties.The second is the case study method,in which typical cases of individuals,groups and organizations are used as materials to illustrate the arguments,such as analyzing the communication position and motivation of a certain Huizhou native or a group of Huizhou people,or exploring the feedback on medical communication activities of a certain type of audience in Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions.Thirdly,the interdisciplinary research method is used to analyze the communication phenomenon of Xin’an medicine by invoking the theories of modern communication science and applying the five basic elements of communicator,message,medium,recipient and effect in the communication model and their mechanisms of action,so as to deeply grasp the specific connotations carried in the communication activities of Xin’an medicine.Result:Based on the spread of Xin’an medicine in Jiangsu and Zhejiang during the Ming and Qing dynasties,this paper summarizes the historical patterns and experiences of the three aspects of Xin’an medicine’s dissemination channels,content and influence;summarizes the lessons and limitations of Xin’an medicine’s lack of dissemination subjects,fewer dissemination media and a single mode of dissemination;draws inspirations for modern TCM cultural dissemination: firstly,to explore the cultural attributes of medical communication activities and their significance,to carry out Third,on the basis of the ancient medical communication methods and approaches,we should make full use of various communication media and forms to explore a Chinese medicine culture communication mode that better meets the needs of the modern public.Conclusion:Chinese medicine culture is an important part of traditional Chinese culture.The spread of Xin’an medicine in Jiangsu and Zhejiang during the Ming and Qing dynasties not only promoted the inheritance and innovation of Xin’an medicine,but also spread and promoted the traditional culture of Chinese nation.As TCM people,we should firmly establish TCM cultural self-confidence,take the initiative to establish TCM cultural dissemination consciously,actively explore the TCM cultural dissemination mode that meets modern public demand,and promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with TCM culture.
