Bipolar Radiofrequency-Assisted Liposuction Applied To Cervicomental Angle Definition

Background:East Asian beauty standards uphold a V-shaped face and a long,slender neck.Some patients are dissatisfied with the concurrent nonsurgical treatment and prefer limited downtime with minimally invasive procedures to achieve a natural skin-tightening outcome.We performed bipolar radiofrequency-assisted liposuction to achieve cervical rejuvenation.Object:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of radiofrequency-assisted liposuction for the treatment of cervical skin and soft tissue laxity in Eastern Asians.Method:A total of 66 subjects(age = 23-62 years)with neck skin and soft tissue laxity(Knize II-IV,Knize grade II–III(n = 60),grade III(n = 4),and grade IV(n = 2))were treated with bipolar radiofrequency-assisted liposuction under tumescent local anesthesia.Follow-up visits at D1,D7,D30,D90,and D180.The outcome of surgery was evaluated by patients and independent plastic surgeons at D180 of follow up.The skin and tissue tightening effect can be assessed by using the measurement tape measure on the treating area.The result with SPSS23.0 statistical software for statistical analysis.The incidence of postoperative complication was counted.Result:Sixty-six Eastern Asian patients(average age: 35.64 years;6 males and 60 females)underwent cervicomental bipolar RFAL.The mean RF energy was 6.41 KJ,and the mean total aspiration volume was 26.06 ml.Only minor complications were encountered in this series;5 patients(7.58%)reported first-to-second-degree burns,3(4.55%)reported temporary neuropraxia,and 5(7.58%)presented nodules during postRFAL recovery.Preoperative and Postoperative treatment cervical skin dimension statistics shows significant difference(P <0.05).After treatment,significant improvement in the neck contour was observed.Summary:The described RFAL treatment significantly improved the refinement of neck contouring in Eastern Asian subjects.The simple single,one-time minimally invasive cervical procedure under local anesthesia enhanced the cervical-mental angle definition,the tissue tightening effect,face slimming,and the mandibular line.Also,the gonial angle projection progressively became more demarcated.No serious adverse events except mild complications were reported.This application could achieve extraordinary results with a high safety profile.
