Objective:To investigate whether there were gender differences in the brain effect of acupuncture Xuanzhong point in healthy people,this study based on f MRI technology to compare different genders subjects of the immediate brain effect and post-acupuncture brain effect of acupuncture Xuanzhong point.It is in order to confirm the hypothesis that the brain effect of acupuncture Xuanzhong point was different between different genders healthy people.Then it can provide objective basis for the acupuncture clinic and research in future.Method:12 female healthy female subjects(female group)and 13 male healthy subjects(male group)who met the trial criteria were randomly selected.3.0T MR scanner was used to obtained acupuncture Xuanzhong point of brain activation area and post-acupuncture of resting-state Re Ho value.SPSS 25.0 software independent sample t-test was used to analyse data on general information and needle perception in 2 groups of subjects.DPARSFA software was used to process data.SPM 12 software one-sample t-test was used to analyse acupuncture Xuanzhong point of brain activation area in 2 groups of subjects.The location,voxel value and peak point coordinates of activated brain area caused by acupuncture Xuanzhong point were obtained.SPM 12 software independent sample t-test was used to analyse the differences of acupuncture Xuanzhong point of brain activation area and post-acupuncture of resting-state Re Ho value between 2 groups.The differences in location,voxel value and peak point coordinates of activated brain region and post-acupuncture of Re Ho values between 2 groups were obtained.Finally,xj View and Brain Net were used to present the result.Results:1.In immediate state of acupuncture Xuanzhong point,healthy female group in right orbital inferior frontal gyrus,left superior frontal gyrus,left posterior central gyrus,right thalamus,right superior frontal gyrus and right angular gyrus were observed positive activation,while in left supramarginal gyrus were observed negative activation.2.In immediate state of acupuncture Xuanzhong point,healthy male group in left cerebellum,left inferior occipital gyrus,left putamen,left middle temporal gyrus,left precentral gyrus,right inferior temporal gyrus,right thalamus,left superior temporal gyrus,right middle temporal gyrus and right precentral gyrus were observed positive activation,while no negative activation brain region were observed.3.In immediate state of acupuncture Xuanzhong point,healthy male group was compared with healthy female group.Healthy male group in left cerebellum,right orbital inferior frontal gyrus,left superior frontal gyrus,right middle temporal gyrus,right thalamus,right middle frontal gyrus,left precentral gyrus,right supplementary motor area and left superior temporal gyrus were observed positive activation,while no negative activation brain region were observed.4.Post-acupuncture Xuanzhong point,healthy male group was compared with healthy female group.Healthy male group of Re Ho values enhanced in right calcarine cortex,left inferior temporal gyrus,left middle occipital gyrus,left superior temporal gyrus,inferior frontal gyrus of right insula and right inferior parietal gyrus,while Re Ho values reduced in left cerebellum,right middle temporal gyrus,left hippocampus,left superior frontal gyrus,left anterior cingulate gyrus,right angular gyrus,right supramarginal gyrus,right precuneus and left precentral gyrus.Conclusion1.In the immediate state of acupuncture Xuanzhong point,the activated brain areas with gender differences mainly involved emotional,visual,auditory,language and motor functions related brain regions.It indicated that the immediate effect of acupuncture Xuanzhong point between different genders of subjects was different.2.Post-acupuncture Xuanzhong point,the differences of brain function between the male and female groups were mainly manifested in the brain regions related to emotional,visual,auditory,language,somatosensory processing,motor and memory function.It showed that the after-working effect of acupuncture Xuanzhong point was different between different gender subjects.3.This study pointed out that the brain effect of acupuncture Xuanzhong point between different gender subjects was different.Therefore this potential gender factor should be considered in acupuncture clinic and research in future.
