Since the beginning of the new century, there has been an obvious turn in women’s literature, which is due to the overall change of time environment, social culture, writers’creative ideas and gender consciousness. As an important part of women’s literature, transgender writing has a longer and more complicated gender cultural tradition, which relates to the writer’s cognition and care for the subjects of gender, and also indicates a larger space for artistic imagination. At present, the academic research on the transgender writing is mainly focused on the case analysis of one single writer or work, and there is a lack of overall investigation on the diversified appearances of transgender writing under the change of gender consciousness in the new century. The studies mostly focus on the the works of male writers, but pay little attention to female writers.Female literature in the new century has been seeking breakthroughs in gender concepts and artistic skills.Compared with female self-experience writing, transgender writing is a more difficult challenge. When writers regard"androgynous" as an ideal state, transgender writing is also a practical test. Therefore, this paper puts the transgender writing into the overall background of female writing in the new century, based on close reading of the novel, discusses the distinctive characteristics on transgender writing in the narrative rhetoric and gender subject consciousness,in order to think about the value of transgender writing for women’s writing and gender culture. The thesis is mainly divided into the following parts:The introduction sorts out the relevant research on transgender writing and women disguised as men, clarifies the concept of transgender writing and the research scope of this paper according to the narratology, and expounds the main reason and research significance of the topic. The first chapter summarizes and sorts out the characteristics of transgender writing in different times and the transmutation of gender consciousness. The tradition of transgender writing can be traced back to the Chinese classical literature period.Since modern times, the original cultural symbolic tradition has been replaced by new political ideas.Under the call of the national ideal, transgender writing has become the mouthpiece of male discourse. In the new era, with the awakening and publicity of female consciousness, transgender writing began to reflect on the strategic expression of male-centered culture.Since the beginning of the new century, there have been significant changes in women’s literature. On the whole, the openness and sociality of gender dimension have been highlighted, the orientation of"de-gendered" has become increasingly prominent, and "androgynous" has become the ideal realm recognized by most writers. The pluralism and complexity of gender consciousness are also reflected in transgender writing, which makes it take on diversified appearances. The second chapter mainly investigates the exploration of transgender writing in narrative rhetoric and formal skills.Transgender writing requires the writer to present a story through the perspective and tone of the men. This narrative feature is mainly manifested in the setting of personal perspective and the intervention of narrative voice at the textual level. In addition, the writer makes use of the contradiction and gap between the narrator and the implied author to make irony and criticism, which constitutes an important narrative strategy of the writing of ease. Therefore, based on the relevant theory of narratology and feminism, this chapter discusses the unique narrative effect and gender rhetoric by using these perspective, voice and skills. It founds that the strategic transgender narration can avoid an indictment expression, and enlarge the interpretation of the novel, formate the "transcend gender" gender rhetoric. The third chapter focuses on the reflective consciousness and cultural consciousness contained in transgender writing.Since the beginning of the new century, gender harmony has become the main trend. Therefore, this chapter, from the perspective of theology and culturology, focuses on intimate relationship and male image writing to analyze the consciousness and profound thoughts. The writers reflect and criticize the patriarchal culture from the male perspective, conveys the desire of mutual understanding between the two sexes, and also reveals the complex psychology of hesitancy. The writer’s cognition and concern for the male subject can be understood from two aspects:deconstruction and construction. The first is the rejection and subversion of the male image and ethical rules stipulated by the patriarchal culture. The second is the maintenance and construction of male subject’s spirit dimension. The conclusion part summarizes the methods and significance of transgender writing, evaluates the relationship between the two orientations of "de-gendered" and "androgynous",and looks forward to the exploration space of transgender writing in the field of network literature.
