| After the appearance of books in the Shang Dynasty,the book-collecting business in ancient China began to emerge and develop.With the improvement of economic and cultural level,more and more attention has been paid to the collection of books.Stele inscription activities appeared in the Han Dynasty.During the Northern Zhou Dynasty,ancient Chinese library inscriptions were produced.Beginning in the Song Dynasty,inscriptions developed into a professional discipline,and the establishment and changes of the library gradually recorded deeds and praised merits by erecting monuments.Stele inscription activities appeared in the Han Dynasty.During the Northern Zhou Dynasty,ancient Chinese library inscriptions were produced.Beginning in the Song Dynasty,inscriptions developed into a professional discipline,and the establishment and changes of the library gradually recorded deeds and praised merits by erecting monuments.Inscriptions are the most direct and authentic historical materials in the history of library development.They are the most direct and precious historical materials for in-depth study of the development history of ancient Chinese libraries.By searching various local historical records,epigraph databases,epigraph monographs,and collections of works,and through on-the-spot investigations with my tutors,I have collected a total of 342 stele inscriptions in ancient Chinese library buildings.They appeared from the Northern Zhou Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty,including the four major book collection institutions in ancient China.By sorting out the inscription creators,transcribers,geographical locations,and affiliated institutions,it is found that most of the inscriptions appeared in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,and were concentrated in East and North China.The number of inscriptions in the official library and the temple library greatly exceeds the other two,and the number of inscriptions in the private library is very small.The inscription mainly describes the environment of the library and the reason for its creation,introduces the founder and the source of the book,and reveals the function of the library.The inscriptions of ancient Chinese libraries have extremely high historical value,which are mainly reflected in four aspects: Firstly,The reasons for the change of the library mainly include two aspects: war damage and natural damage;Secondly,the library funds mainly come from state appropriations,official donations,donations from government organizations and private donations;Thirdly,the inscriptions reveal the status and function of the collection of books in past dynasties through the interpretation and functional analysis of the content of the collection;Lastly,to provide documentary support for the study of cultural developments and religious collections influenced by the emperor’s policies.Most of the inscriptions of ancient Chinese library buildings were created and transcribed by famous masters.Therefore,they are of great literary and artistic value.Due to the particularity of the inscription carrier,it provides a direct reference for the study of the evolution of ancient Chinese literature and calligraphy.The inscriptions on the inscriptions in the library are an important document support for the study of Chinese book collection culture.The systematic and comprehensive collection and in-depth analysis and research of them are not only conducive to promoting the development of the history of book collection,but also conducive to building a socialist cultural power with Chinese characteristics. |
