With the deepening of foreign exchanges,Chinese culture is loved by more and more foreigners. As a typical Chinese traditional culture, tea culture has been concerned at home and abroad. With Sichuan being one of the birthplaces of Chinese tea culture,Sichuan tea culture plays a significant role in the Chinese tea culture. As the cultural exchanges between the East and the West are increasing, tea culture translation helps promote the spread of Chinese tea culture. The translated materials are selected from Sichuan Tea Culture. This book contains rich contents, such as Cultural Origin of Tea in Sichuan,Various Tea in Sichuan,Tea-horse Trade, and so on.The research objects of this paper include Ancient Tea-horse Road and Tea Etiquettes, which contain rich culture-loaded words. In the process of translation, the translator draws on some current research results on the translation of tea culture, which are helpful for the translator in translation and practice report writing. The author’s translation aims to build a cultural communication bridge between China and the West with a view to promoting cultural exchanges between China and the West.Four of Nida’s classification have been chosen: ecological culture, material culture, social culture and religious culture.Based on cross-cultural communication, the author then chooses eight strategies in translation:deletion, intratextual gloss, extratextual gloss, orthographic adaptation, limited universalization, absolute universalization,linguistic(non-cultural)translation,which are under the instruction of Aixelá,and corresponding expressions of a third language,a supplement added by the author. The author uses these strategies to analyze the translation of culture-specific items in order to achieve cross-cultural communication.
