| Fahai Temple murals,as outstanding works of murals in the Ming Dynasty, have extremely high research value in terms of both the study of Buddhism and the ontology of painting images. The previous studies on the image of Shuiyue Guanyin mostly used the Han Dynasty Shuiyue Guanyin statue system to demonstrate. However,Fahai Temple was built under the background of the prosperity of Tibetan Buddhism and the respect of Gelug Sect and Sakya Sect in Ming Dynasty, which represented the orthodox status of Ming court belief and concept.Even the influence of the murals of Fahai Temple is not only reflected in the painting elements and decorative patterns, but also in the contrast of ideas, concepts and beliefs.Starting from the frescoes of Fahai Temple, this paper investigates the evolution of the image of Shuiyue Guanyin since the Tang,Five Dynasties, and Northern Song Dynasties.By arranging Buddhist classics,it explains the development of Huayan religious teachings and how the Guanyin belief changes from the perspective of text. Finally, the "Water Moon Avalokitesvara" and "The Emperor Shah Brahma Ritual Buddha" are placed in the space and rituals of the Mahavira Hall of Fahai Temple to investigate, and try to identify and analyze the function of the fresco images of Fahai Temple. |
