As one of the five basic skills in the development of students’ language competence,writing can best reflect students’ comprehensive language level.However,a reality that cannot be ignored is that middle school students often face many problems in English writing,such as insufficient vocabulary accumulation,improper language expression,and scattered article structure.The main reason is that traditional English writing teaching is not closely integrated with courses such as listening and speaking,grammar,and reading to form a complete system.The unit integrative design advocated by the New Curriculum Standards provides new ideas for English writing teaching.Therefore,the author has studied a large number of documents and decided to implement the teaching research of English writing based on the unit integrative design.Based on the Holistic Language Teaching Approach,Gestalt Psychology,and Swain’s Output Theory,the author conducted this research with Grade 8 Class 1 in Yuncheng Royal School as the participants.This study was conducted in the form of action research.Three rounds of action were conducted for three months,and each round of action lasted for one month.This study used questionnaire,interview,and test.The author conducted a questionnaire survey on the students’ writing status before and after the study respectively,interviewed five representative students of different levels after each round of action,and used SPSS26.0 to conduct paired sample T test on the writing scores before and after each round of action.The author puts forward three research questions:1.What are the influences of English writing teaching based on unit integrative design on students’ writing affection?2.What are the influences of English writing teaching based on unit integrative design on students’ English writing level?3.What is the implementation path of English writing teaching based on unit integrative design?By analyzing the relevant dates,the author draw the following conclusions: 1.English writing teaching based on unit integrative design can effectively improve students’ English writing affection;2.English writing teaching based on unit integrative design can effectively improve students’ English writing level;3.The implementation path of English writing teaching based on unit integrative design are as follows: Determining writing topics according to unit topics after analyzing textbooks and students’ learning situation;Further presupposing writing target sentences,and integrating them into the teaching of each class of the whole unit,making listening and speaking,reading,grammar classes and other classes build scaffolding for writing classes,so as to establish the internal relationship between listening and speaking,reading,and writing classes,and systematize writing teaching;Using a variety of evaluation methods to evaluate students’ compositions.
