Research On The Creation Of Picture Book "Dream Place"

Under the influence of the fast-paced social environment,people’s desire for the spiritual core has become increasingly vigorous,hoping to place their exhausted spirit on a rich cultural connotation and seek spiritual recognition.Relying on literary and artistic works that share personal feelings,we began to trace back to our roots and seek solace in China’s thousands of years of long history and culture.In the creation of picture books,the expansion of traditional cultural values is also continuous.It is precisely because literary and artistic workers continue to explore,endowing traditional culture with strong vitality in the new era and unique interpretations in the new cultural context.Adhering to the inheritance and innovation of traditional culture,enhancing the sense of belonging and identification with local culture,and strengthening cultural confidence are also important pursuits of picture book creation.The picture book "Dream Place" created this time is a picture book based on traditional Chinese culture,adapted from traditional opera stories,starting from the well-known story text of Kunqu opera "Peony Pavilion",capture the profound emotional connotations,grasp the commonalities of ’emotions’,and express the beauty of emotions,adjusted the story structure,designed novel story characters and elements,and obtained the more desirable effect of expression.This article can be divided into two levels.Firstly,the first level introduces the basic form of picture books from the perspectives of topic sources and creative content.The second level explains the creative process of picture books from three parts: story adaptation,style exploration,and book and derivative design,gradually deepening the understanding of this creation.Firstly,design the story text of the picture book,adjust the narrative structure,change the original linear narrative,and increase the richness of the plot.Secondly,explore the expression style of picture books,utilize the artistic form of shadow play to improve personal creation,and align with the themes of traditional culture.Through the design of stories and visuals,conveying emotions and conveying ideas,providing readers with a gamified visual experience,creating a fantasy style picture book work that gives vitality to traditional culture in the new era,and strives to add modern understanding to traditional culture.
