This article focuses on six novels, including Humiliated and Insulted,Crime and Punishment,The Idiot,The Raw Youth,The Possessed and Karamazov brothers,as the main research objects. It delves into the evolution phenomenon in Dostoevsky’s novel creation from three aspects: the theme, character images, and plot structure, striving to explore the artistic rules of Dostoevsky’s novel creation. This paper is divided into five parts, including introduction and four chapters. The introduction mainly discusses Dostoevsky’s creative career and his main representative works, and investigates the academic achievements made by the academic circles at present from both foreign and domestic dimensions, and establishes the research value of this paper. This paper establishes the consciousness of overall criticism based on the text, and tries to grasp the evolution phenomenon in the writer’s novel creation as a whole. The first chapter discusses the development and changes of the themes of "redemption of suffering" and "coupled family".Dostoevsky’s theme of "redemption of suffering" has multiple meanings, that is,the punishment of law-external suffering, condemnation of conscience-moral suffering and the suffering that eventually rose to metaphysical punishment. The hero gains faith and soul salvation in the process from external suffering to metaphysical suffering. In the 1960 s and 1970 s,the traditional Russian family gradually changed into a "couple family".The lack of "common ideal" makes the relationship between father and son develop from simple "dislocation" to irreconcilable conflict. The younger generation in the "coupled family" has also been abandoned outside the normal social life, gradually moving towards depravity and crime. The second chapter discusses the development and changes of the two types of characters, namely,"nobody" and "basement man".Dostoevsky no longer reflects the humble position and poor experience of the little people from the outside, but focuses on describing the rich inner world of the little people and their struggle from thought to action. As a turning point in Dostoevsky’s creative career,The Tale of Notes from the Underground has a brand-new character image-"The Basement Man".Notes on Notes from the Underground to Karamazov brothers show the dilemma and fate faced by "basement people" in the process of moving from "edge" to "center".Dostoevsky turned to pay attention to the inner world of characters, thus creating a typical figure-thinker different from traditional realistic literature. At the same time, based on the events in real life, the writer puts the characters in extreme events such as crime or epilepsy, and depicts all the mysteries and spiritual changes in the hearts of the characters. The third chapter discusses the development process of Dostoevsky’s novels from linear structure to network structure.Plot movement is inseparable from time and space.Using Genette’s narrative discourse theory, this paper analyzes the change of narrative rhythm.By comparing the text length with the story time,we find that the text length of Humiliated and Insulted and Crime and Punishment are roughly the same as the story time, and the narrative speed is relatively peaceful. From The Idiot to karamazov brothers, the gap between the text length and the story time is getting bigger and bigger, and the story is more and more concentrated in a period of time. The story time usually shows the characteristics of fracture, and the narrative speed is gradually slowing down.At the same time,in order to make up for the slowing down of the overall narrative speed,Dostoevsky uses the methods of summary, pause and delay to make the interior of his works present an alternating rhythm effect.Narrative mode has also become an important factor in the development of novels from linear structure to network structure.Spatial narrative mode is mainly manifested in the transformation of narrative perspective and the spatialization of time.Dostoevsky used the spatial narrative method to make the novel present a spatial form. The development of novel structure from linear to network is also manifested in plot clues and dialogue. The parallel and interwoven development of multiple plot clues and the dialogue of the novel make the novel form a crisscross narrative network and form a "multi-voice world"The fourth chapter discusses the reasons for the changes in Dostoevsky’s novel creation. The change of social thought, the view of art and reality, and the complexity and contradiction of religious concepts make Dostoevsky’s novels show the transmutation phenomenon in the theme, characters and plot structure.
