Dostoevsky’s novels are the epitome of his creative thoughts and arts, the writer has created a series of unique artistic images of women in the novel. It is worth noting that there are obvious changes of the representative female characters in the important works of the writer in the early and late stages, and a series of artistic characteristics have emerged in the evolution process.By exploring the evolutionary characteristics of the female images,it is possible to unearth the writer’s profound creative thoughts.Judging from the overall characteristics of female images in Dostoevsky’s novels, the female images have shown contradictory traits characteristics from the beginning, which is closely related to paradox between female worship tradition in Russian culture and the extremes in Russian national nature. The analysis of the causes of the overall characteristics of female images has laid a foundation for the study of the evolution of female images. From Natasha and Nelly in The Insulted and Injured,to Sonia and Dunya in Crime and Punishment,to Nastasia and Aglaya in The Idiot,to Grushenka and Katerina in The Brothers Karamazov, which is the last novel,it can be found in careful reading, analysis and comparison of a series of major works that the figures of the women in his earlier and later novels of Dostoevsky show obvious evolutionary laws.Their artistic characteristics are mainly reflected in the following three aspects: about the structure of the story, the female image gradually moves from the edge of the story to the center;in the respect of the internal personality contradictions of the characters, the dual personality image on the female character is constantly prominent, and finally becomes a mixture of sadism and masochism;in terms of identity and ending, female characters have changed from being saved to savior, and their endings have also changed from death to new life. The evolution of female images in novels reflects the creative thinking and religious thinking of writers to a certain extent.Female images are the actual presenters of the novel’s ideals.Their experiences and destiny reflect the status quo of the Russian people in the second half of the 19 th century. The changes in the structure of female characters and the continuous development of men’s minds complement each other;the inherent contradictions in the personality of women highlights the deep reality of the human’s struggle between –good and-evil;the identity and ending of female characters reflect the writer’s search to find a way out for people.Through the evolution of the female image in the work,Dostoevsky revealed the situation of people in the times and society, and tried to reveal the way out for people, believe in the power of the people, accept their religious beliefs and the virtues brought by faith and practice to love and being positive;this is the answers given by the writer. In short, the evolution of female images in Dostoevsky’s novels presents peculiar aesthetic and artistic characteristics. The writer expresses profound religious culture connotations and reflects his concern about social reality and human destiny through the evolution of female images.
