Symbolic Construction Of Character Setting In Chinese Animation And Audience Reception Study

Character setting is a symbolic product,an artificially set symbolic code,which is popular in cyberspace and generates meaningful extensions,and is ultimately consumed by the public.As a collection of virtualised symbols of desire,it has its own unique historical and cultural characteristics and is a product of marketisation and genreisation.Along with the government’s policy support for the domestic animation industry since 2004,the technical level of domestic animation production has improved,and through the efforts of generations of Chinese producer,Chinese animators have formed their own unique industrial model and cultural phenomenon through their continuous creative animation work.This paper firstly shows the history and environment of the commercialization of Chinese animation characters,analyzes and elaborates on the animation and its character settings in the context of"persona" over "story",explores the symbolic characteristics of the composition of Chinese animation personas,and searches for the database of domestic animation " character settings ".The paper will also analyze how this collage of character settings are established and constructed in the process of production and dissemination of animation,and the attempt of typecasting and anti-typecasting of such images formed by some animations.Secondly,this paper will find how domestic anime fans decode"character settings" from the perspective of audience acceptance and how they actively participate in the process of recoding anime persona through the elaboration of anime persona and the creation of homoerotic works in the new media environment.We study the changes of cultural capital,subjectivity and power in the process of acceptance as the producers and audiences of animation persona culture.By analyzing the new cultural phenomena and construction strategies of animation character in Chinese animation with the development of " character settings ",we gain insight into how the acceptance and reproduction behaviors of the corresponding audiences for animation persona further contribute to the construction of animation persona.The analysis of the construction of persona and audience acceptance in this paper can also help us better understand how the audience decodes the animation " character settings " in the animation activities and perfects the construction of symbolic meaning of the animation characters,which eventually brings some thoughts for the creators of domestic animation.
