Dunhuang ancient Tibetan manuscript P.T.1289 is a story describing the theme of funeral ceremony. It adopts binding Sanskrit decoration and has high cultural and historical value.By studying the linguistic features of this volume,we can deduce the evolution law of ancient Tibetan grammar and characters. Therefore,it is of great value for understanding ancient Tibetan culture, history and language. However, although the writing volume has a very high research value,so far scholars at home and abroad still have little research on it.In order to make up for this deficiency, the in-depth study of the writing volume has become my master ’s research topic, with a view to further interpreting P.T.1289 in a more comprehensive and systematic way.Through the analysis of version studies, such as fonts, circles, prefaces, sentences, dots, etc.,we find that the volume is very similar to the stone tablets and Tibetan ancient books written in the middle of the ninth century,so it can be inferred that its writing time is about the middle of the ninth century. In addition, from ’ do ma snying rtags ’,’ dmag rab kyi rta po ’,’ brgyad thag brgyad ’,’ gxen rabs kyi myi bo ’ and other words,we can infer that the burial ceremony and animal burial or martyrdom culture have been formed. This can also be confirmed from the textual research of Qugong unearthed cultural relics. This paper mainly uses the research method of philology and is divided into four parts.First of all, through the analysis of the characteristics of P.T.1289 ’s binding form, version structure, naming method, font and so on,it is found that this volume was written in the middle of the ninth century, and the content composition and cultural symbol of P.T.1289 were analyzed.Secondly, taking the original version of P.T.1289 as a reference, the copy and comparison with the other three existing copy versions are carried out,and the contents of error, deletion, derivation and inversion are marked and modified. In addition,in the second chapter, some noun explanations are made to help better understand the content of the paper. The third chapter demonstrates that the funeral ceremony in the P.T.1289 document is very similar to the ancient funeral methods inferred from archaeological research in Qugong site and Dulan ancient tomb.It reflects the formed burial ceremony and animal burial and martyrdom culture. In addition, this paper also demonstrates that the ’ gxen rab myi bo ’(xin)appearing in the scroll is not the founder of Yongzhong Bon Religion, but refers to the funeral ceremony itself. Finally,in the fourth chapter, the syllable statistics of P.T.1289 are carried out by using python software, and the characteristics of the highest frequency genitive auxiliary ’i ’ and free auxiliary ’ni ’ are studied. In addition,we also compared the glyphs of ’ srog ’ and ’ rkyen ’ with the glyphs of ’ srog ’ and ’ rkyen ’ in the literature of different times to prove that the volume was formed in the middle of the 9th century. In summary,we have conducted in-depth research on Dunhuang ancient Tibetan manuscript P.T.1289 through a variety of disciplinary methods. This paper provides a more in-depth understanding and understanding of the ancient Tibetan culture, history and language from the analysis of the edition, copy and analysis, funeral ceremony and language characteristics. This research is of positive significance to the promotion of ancient Tibetan research in the future.
