The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)points out that we should pay attention to letting go in teaching,from the actual occurrence of teachers’ teaching behavior to the process and effect of students’ learning.BOPPPS teaching mode includes six aspects: “Bridge-in”,“Objective”,“Pre-assessment”,“Participatory learning”,“Post-assessment” and “Summary”.As a closed-loop teaching mode focusing on participatory learning and reflection,BOPPPS focuses on students as the main body,encourages students to take the initiative to learn and sets up diverse activities to mobilize students to actively participate in the classroom,which is consistent with the policy requirements.At present,the research on BOPPPS mode is on the rise at home and abroad,and its application field is extensive.However,most of its research fields are concentrated in the stage of higher education,and the number of relevant literatures in the secondary education stage is limited.Based on this,this study attempts to apply the BOPPPS mode to English reading teaching of junior middle school.49 students in a class of Grade 9 in a middle school in Yan’an are taken as the research object to carry out the practical teaching work for one semester.This paper mainly discusses two questions:(1)What is the effect of BOPPPS mode on junior middle school students’ English reading performance?(2)What is the students’ attitudes towards BOPPPS mode applying to English reading teaching in junior high school? Finally,This paper tests the application effect of BOPPPS mode through three forms: test,questionnaire,interview.The results show that after the application of BOPPPS teaching mode,students’ English reading performance is improved and especially in the aspects of information extraction,reasoning judgment and logical analysis ability is obvious.Besides,students have a positive attitude towards the application of BOPPPS mode in junior middle school English reading teaching.It can be concluded that BOPPPS teaching mode is an effective teaching mode,which can be applied to English reading teaching in junior high school.
