Zhou Lingzhao is a famous artist and designer in China.He studied under Wang Zhongqiong,Chen Guozhao,Liu Puqing and others in his early years and was influenced by good painting education.In his artistic career,it seems that more attention is paid to Zhou Lingzhao’s achievements in the field of design,but little is known that as a painter,Zhou Lingzhao left many classic works of art such as May 4th Movement,Resurrection,and Great Unity of the People in the World.During Zhou Lingzhao’s painting career,he traveled to Guangxi many times and lived in Guangxi for a long time.During his stay in Guangxi,he sketched all the way,painted many works with Guangxi as the theme,participated in painting exhibitions and engaged in educational activities,and also designed the binding and illustrations of the book of Guangxi musical Liu Sanjie.Has forged an indissoluble bond with Guangxi.This paper attempts to sort out Zhou Lingzhao’s various artistic practices in Guangxi by connecting his "fragmented" information,analyze his influence and the reasons for his artistic creation thoughts,and study the artistic language,artistic style and artistic characteristics of his paintings.Finally,it explores the significance and enlightenment of Zhou Lingzhao’s artistic creation,artistic attitude and concept and artistic choice to the development of contemporary Guangxi art.The main content of this paper is divided into four parts.The first chapter expounds the artistic practice that Zhou Lingzhao participated in when he came to Guangxi in three periods.Among them,the artistic activities during the Anti-Japanese War were the most numerous,including sketching,education,exhibitions and other artistic activities.After the founding of New China,most of the artistic activities were concentrated in exhibitions and sketching activities.This chapter combs Zhou Lingzhao’s artistic practice of traveling to Guangxi as comprehensively as possible.In the second chapter,the author mainly discusses the origin and causes of Zhou Lingzhao’s artistic creation thought.Under the influence of the whole era,social unrest provided a premise for Zhou Lingzhao’s creative thought.A large number of posters,New Year pictures and comic books created in the early stage also laid a solid foundation for his mass art.Finally,after the founding of New China,Zhou Lingzhao’s painting art was placed in the context of China.Because of the "new" design idea advocated by New China,Zhou Lingzhao integrated this idea into the painting art,which brought new enlightenment to his painting art and formed his own unique artistic style.The third chapter analyzes Zhou Lingzhao’s artistic language,artistic style and artistic characteristics in series with the background of the times,and makes a concrete explanation through his paintings.The fourth chapter mainly explores Zhou Lingzhao’s artistic creation,artistic attitude and concept and artistic choice.Especially in the development of China’s art history,when we look back at these works closely related to life again,we can not only re-understand Zhou Lingzhao’s art paintings in the whole background of the twentieth century,but also analyze and dissect them,and also provide new ideas and methods for the development of artistic creation in Guangxi in the future.
