| Alex Katz is one of the most influential contemporary artists of the 20 th century,and at the age of 96,he is still active in his creative power,and his portraits and landscapes are the most widely influenced.Among them,traditional realism,pop art,abstract expressionism,cubism,hard-edged art,Fauvism and Impressionism all had a certain influence on Katz.He learned from the experience,with the unique subjectivity of the picture,the unique composition form,different from the traditional painting light and color treatment,unique color decoration,flat space form,the combination of figuration and abstraction,concise picture effects,subjective color matching rules,etc.,giving pure and interesting picture effects,Katz’s painting language is pure and simple,his life is devoted to the true expression of inner emotions,unique in today’s world painting circle.This article discusses the constituent elements of Alex Katz’s painting and is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is mainly an overview of Alex Katz’s life and artistic development,starting from the background of Katz’s time,integrating his growth experience and artistic environment,and analyzing the reasons and evolution of the formation of his painting style.These include the influence of the family environment,the influence of diverse artistic schools in the United States,and the exchange of ideas between the painter and the poets of the New York School.The second chapter analyzes the constituent elements of Katz’s painting from the perspective of formal factors,focusing on the analysis of composition,color,space,etc.,and discusses it in combination with the work.The third chapter analyzes the main characteristics of Alex Katz paintings,and comprehensively studies his artistic concepts and artistic appeals.The fourth chapter is the application and practice of Alex Katz painting to his own oil painting.From the illustration analysis of composition,color,shape,space and other aspects in his paintings,this paper strives to comprehensively,systematically and deeply analyze the constituent elements of Katz’s paintings,and discusses the influence and significance of Alex Katz’s painting composition on the author’s painting creation. |
