Study On The Vocabulary Of Chinese Epitaph In Liao Dynasty

The Chinese epitaph of Liao Dynasty is an important carrier to record the Chinese language of Liao Dynasty.It can make up for the shortage of handed down documents and books of Liao Dynasty,and reflect the development of language and characters in the transition period from medieval Chinese to modern Chinese.In this paper,a total of 300 pieces of Chinese epitaph of Liao Dynasty are collected and sorted out.The main research methods are literature investigation,double-evidence method,description method and comparison method,and the theoretical knowledge of philology,exegetics,lexicology and lexicography is comprehensively used to classify,analyze,summarize,describe and compare the words in the epitaph of Liao Dynasty Chinese.This paper aims to showcase the face,characteristics and values of Chinese epitaph in Liao Dynasty,as well as the development and evolution of Chinese epitaph in different historical periods,promoting the further study of Chinese word history.The thesis is divided into three chapters,with an introduction,conclusion and appendix.The first chapter makes a special study on the vocabulary of Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph.Based on the wording characteristics of epitaph documents,we selected the more frequent and numerous epitaph words in the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph,such as death meaning,burial meaning and emperor meaning.This chapter excluded some common monosyllabic words and repeated double-syllabic words,and mainly analyzed 121 words expressing the meaning of death,72 words expressing the meaning of burial,and 47 words expressing the meaning of emperor in the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph,and took them as an entry point to carry out a diachronic comparative study on the basis of the study of synchronic description.The research shows that the Chinese epitaph words of Liao Dynasty have inheritance and development.The epitaph words of Liao Dynasty reflect the predominance of modern Chinese disyllabic words,and the epitaph words of Liao Dynasty are full of Chinese cultural colors.The second chapter studies the value of the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph words to the revision of the Chinese Dictionary.In this chapter,a total of 37 words in the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph can be added to the lexicon of the Great Dictionary;27 words that can supplement the meaning of the Dictionary;There are 68 words that can be used to illustrate lag in advance of the Dictionary.By examining their usage in the epitaph documents and handed down documents in the past dynasties,this paper further discusses The Times when these words and their meanings were produced,and then shows the appearance of the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph words,and reveals the revision value of the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph words to the dictionary and other dictionaries.The research shows that the Chinese epitaph words of Liao Dynasty have obvious value in the revision of dictionaries,the allusions of Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph are rich in variant forms,the combination of false characters is common,the prosody of epitaph style and the Chinese disyllization,social development and so on promote the generation of new words,the development of Liao and Song Chinese has a certain synchronization.The third chapter corrects the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph.In order to improve the reliability of the Chinese epitaph of Liao Dynasty,the author mainly corrected the epitaph of Liao Dynasty from three aspects:naming,time and interpretation.A total of 24 places in the Liao Dynasty’s Chinese epitaph names,22 places in the epitaph’s recorded time,and 79 places in the epitaph’s interpretation are corrected.It is believed that the style of the Liao Dynasty epitaph’s naming is not unified,and the misinterpretation and interpretation of the epitaph’s interpretation lead to "one record with multiple names".The confusion of the date of death,the date of burial and the date of burial change makes the "year of birth" of the same epitaph different.These are easy to cause confusion to the same side of the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph;In addition,the main reasons for the misinterpretation of the Liao Dynasty Chinese epitaph text are: the missing text can be recognized without interpretation,the path to change the false character or different character without saying,did not investigate the original expansion and off,derivative,inverted,without clear meaning and change the original character.
