In recent years, translation studies on youth literature have developed rapidly at home and abroad, with a sharp increase in translated works.Globalization puts forward higher requirements for the translation quality of youth literary works. The selected material for this translation practice report is an American fantasy novel in the field of youth literature named A Magic Steeped in Poison, whose author designs a magical system based on tea to get inside the dark politics of the court. The language of this book is vivid, and the characters are full of charm. In terms of content,it involves many Chinese elements and integrates different Chinese and foreign cultures, which has high research value. The translation practice takes Skopos theory as the guiding theory and makes detailed case analysis on lexical level, syntactical level and textual level according to the three principles of Skopos theory, namely, the fidelity principle, the coherence principle and the skopos principle. In order to make the target text more faithful, coherent and readable, the translator adopts nine methods to couple the translation at three levels. At the lexical level, word meaning extension,partof-speech conversion,four-character phrase and onomatopoeia words are adopted. At the syntactical level, recasting and voice conversion are used.At the textual level, domestication, clarifying personal pronouns and using figure of speech are adopted.Through the translation practice, the translator aims to provide a new perspective for the translation practice of youth literature texts by applying the Skopos theory to the translation process. It provides a reference for domestic and foreign translators to complete the translation of such texts more smoothly in the future, and to promote cross-cultural communication and development between different languages.
