In the rapid process of alobalization.more and more foreign works of children’s literature are entering China,which provide a colorful world to Chinese young readers.As children’s enlightening reading materials,the language of children’s literature should not only be clear and easy to understand,but also interesting and attractive.In the process,high-quality translation plays a significant role in the spread of children’s literature.Therefore,researching the translation of foreign children’s literature and finding feasible translation methods and techniques can improve their influence to some extent.The thesis is a practice report on the study of the translation of children’s literature.The material of this translation project comes from the 19th volume of Magic Tree House—ABE Lincoln at Lasrt!,written by Mary Pope Osborne,an American writer of children’s literature.Taking the translation of this book as an example,the practice report makes an analysis on the translation process of children’s literature.The writer analyzes the linguistic features of children’s literature and its translation principles under the guidance of functionalist approaches,especially the text typology of Reiss and Vermeer’s Skopos theory.Through illustrating the translation process,the writer describes the application of certain translation methods and techniques in the translation project,such as free translation,addition,shift and division,so as to attract more scholars to focus on such text’s research to provide higher-quality translations for children.
