| The thesis takes words in pairs as the object of study,in the overview of words in pairs, words in pairs are defined as four-syllable words formed by the juxtaposition of two parts with related and similar meanings, which have a relatively solid structure and a certain integrity of meaning, and according to the structure, they are divided into two categories: words in pairs without support and words in pairs with support. The thesis uses the theory of lexical constructionalization to analyse and explore the development of words in pairs in the process of constructionalization. In addition to an introductory section, the paper is divided into five chapters:Firstly, the introductory section introduces the background of the thesis and the significance of the research, compares the results of previous research, analyses the overview of research on words in pairs at home and abroad, and also introduces the research methodology of the thesis and the sources of the corpus. The first chapter is about the theoretical foundation, introducing the basic theories of constructional grammar and constructional morphology. The definition and characteristics of lexical constructionalization theory are mainly explained, and lexical constructionalization is a new form-new-meaning new symbol associated with concrete semantics at the semantic pole and with nouns, verbs or adjectives at the formal pole, which is the result of the joint action of formal solidification and meaning integration. The relationship between lexical constructionalization and lexicalisation is also illustrated, and a brief description of articles that have used lexical constructionalization theory in Chinese is given to understand the extent to which lexical constructionalization is currently being studied in conjunction with Chinese vocabulary. The second chapter mainly compares the concept of words in pairs, explaining the definition of paired words.By analysing the links and differences betweenwords in pairs and words, fixed phrases,quasi-fixed words and fixed-like words, the lexical status of words in pairs is determined, and words in pairs are a special lexical unit in Chinese, between free phrases and fixed words, the main part of which is mainly fixed-like words,in addition to containing a few fixed words. The main part of the word is mainly a class of fixations, but also contains a few other fixations. The classification is also based on the lexical category and meaning of the constituent parts of words in pairs. The third chapter analyses the constructionalisation of words in pairs without support which can be regarded as a kind of entity constructionalisation. The high degree of integration of the dependent pairs is classified into three levels: low integration, medium integration and high integration, and the syntactic function of the dependent pairs is changed from accusative to descriptive and nominal. The fourth chapter focuses on the constructionalization of words in pairs with support, which depend on the fixed frame "A1......A2......" and are a kind of schematic construction. The lexical construal of words in pairs with support is mainly related to the frame structure and the meaning fixation, the frame structure fixation is manifested in the fixation of the frame components and the nature of the variables is constrained, the meaning fixation is manifested in the fusion of the overall meaning of the dependent pairs, resulting in incremental meaning and subjective coloration;also according to the classification of the dependent pairs into three levels of low integration, medium integration and high integration, the high integration of the dependent pairs is divided into three levels of low integration, medium integration and high integration. The high degree of integration of words in pairs with support is generally reflected in their inclusion in the lexicon. The fifth chapter illustrates the lexical integration of word in pairs, which is the result of the integration of new forms and new meanings."The change in meaning of pairs is mainly reflected in the change in metaphorical and polysemantic links, with the core meaning of pairs tending to be "polysemantic".The sixth chapter focuses on the dynamics and mechanisms of word formation, with frequency being the driving force in the formation of word in pairs and playing an important role in their solidification;socio-culture is also an important factor in the solidification of word in pairs. In terms of the mechanisms of word in pairs, the formation of word in pairs without support is mainly related to the psychology of grouping in the cognitive mechanism, while the formation of word in pairs with support is mainly related to the mechanism of analogy. The concluding section summarises the main ideas of this paper, analyses the shortcomings of this study, and provides an outlook for future research on pairwise words. |
