Research On The Influence Of POA On English Writing Motivation

The author selected 100 students from two parallel classes in the grade eight of a junior high school in Fuyang City,Anhui Province,as the research subjects.There are50 students in an experimental class(EC)who adopt the production-oriented English writing teaching mode and 50 students in the control class(CC)who adopt the traditional English writing teaching mode.To verify whether the production-oriented approach(POA)affects students’ English writing motivation.The author taught two parallel classes simultaneously and conducted a 15-week teaching experiment.The research data of the two classes were collected by quantitative and qualitative methods such as a motivation scale,questionnaire survey and interview.SPSS23.0software is used to compare and analyze the data of scale and questionnaire to solve the two problems to be studied in this experiment,namely:1.Does the production-oriented English writing teaching model affect students’ English writing motivation?2.If so,in what aspects?The research findings of this experiment are as follows:1.The production-oriented teaching model impacts students’ English writing motivation.2.Specific manifestations of the influence are:(1)Through the statistics and analysis of the writing motivation scale data,it is found that the writing motivation of the experimental class has been significantly improved compared with that of the control class,and the students’ writing attitude has been significantly changed.After the experiment,the students have a more positive attitude towards English writing.Writing ability mainly remained the same in the short term.The purpose of writing was also enhanced after the experiment,and the students had a more substantial purpose in writing.(2)Through the statistics and analysis of the questionnaire,it is found that students’ writing motivation is improved compared with that before the experiment.After the experiment,the average score of the questionnaire in the experimental class was 33.44,and that in the control class was 30.30.According to the results of the T-test,the p-value was 0.01.Since the p-value was less than 0.05,the student’s writing motivation was significantly improved compared to before the experiment.(3)Compared with the traditional English writing teaching mode,students prefer the production-oriented English writing teaching mode through semi-structured interviews.The production-oriented English writing teaching model can improve their English writing motivation,enthusiasm,and initiative in writing.This paper uses three different data collection methods to achieve multiple and mutual verifications of research conclusions,proving that the production-oriented English writing teaching model can effectively improve junior high school students’ English writing motivation level.The changes in writing test scores before and after the experiment show that the writing scores of students in the experimental class have also improved with improving writing motivation level,thus verifying the positive effect of the production-oriented method on English writing teaching.
