Chinese classical poetry songs inherit and develop China’s excellent traditional culture,which is a vocal artform with a deep historical heritage and a unique artistic temperament.The performance of classical Chinese poetry songs must be rooted in the characteristics of classical poetry,and be based on the characteristics of the poetry itself in terms of syllables,tones and rhythms.Then It will formulate singing specifications and requirements appropriate to all aspects of singing,vocalisation,diction,intonation,timbre and embellishment.This master’s thesis takes Chinese classical poetry songs as the study object,and takes Jiangchengzi Remembering a Dream on the Twentieth Day of the First Month of the Yimao Year written by Su Shi in Northern Song Dynasty and composed by Ao Changqun,a contemporary composer,as an example,and discusses how to handle the timbre and embellishment of Chinese classical poetry songs in actual singing performances,starting from the timbre and embellishment of singing.The thesis firstly introduces the background,significance,domestic and foreign literature,research ideas and methods,as well as innovations and shortcomings of this study;then it discusses the definition and singing characteristics of Chinese classical poetry songs,the author’s introduction and composition background of Jiangchengzi Remembering a Dream on the Twentieth Day of the First Month of the Yimao Year.More importantly,from the aspects of analysis and practice,this thesis deeply discusses the timbre and embellishment of Jiangchengzi Remembering a Dream on the Twentieth Day of the First Month of the Yimao Year,puts forward the performance and requirements of different parts of singing timbre,character image shaping,and emotional change processing,expounds the artistic laws,principles,and methods of singing embellishment,and demonstrates it in combination with song performance practice.The principles are derived through effective desk work and practice,which can guide singing and performance.It is hoped that it will play a role in promoting the integration of the art of vocal performance with our traditional culture,and bring suggestions and assistance available to all.
