A Study Of The CPC’s Transformation Of The Folk Culture In Northwest Shanxi (1937-1949)

As an important part of Chinese culture,traditional festivals have irreplaceable vitality,cohesion and attraction.Based on various folk rituals,it carries the expectations and blessings of the Chinese people for a better life through the ages.As one of the "four traditional festivals" in China,the Spring Festival contains profound national genes and humanistic spirit,and focuses on showing the cultural connotation of China’s rural society for thousands of years.The Spring Festival entered the revolutionary cause of the Communist Party of China because of its extremely high public participation and deep social influence.As a channel connecting the Communist Party of China and the people,it assumed the function of revolutionary mobilization.After the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 1937,He Long and Guan Xiangying,in accordance with the spirit of the Luochuan Conference,led the main force of the 120 th Division to cross the Yellow River and stand into the northwest of Shanxi and establish the Anti-Japanese base in the northwest of Shanxi.The key to the foothold,development and growth of the Communist Party of China in rural areas lies in the effective political mobilization of farmers.Based on the needs of realistic politics,the organizations of the Communist Party of China in northwest Shanxi used and reformed the folk symbols inherent in the Spring Festival,such as New Year pictures,Yangko dance,traditional opera,integrating the theme of revolution and production into the Spring Festival life,integrating politics into the rural society in a simple and understandable way,and guiding the value orientation and behavior norms of the people.Of course,the transformation of the inherent folk symbols of the Communist Party of China is not accomplished overnight.At the beginning,starting from the old foundation,we carried out simple content replacement,and implanted the revolutionary elements into the cultural elements.Then,with the improvement of the political environment of the Communist Party of China and the continuous consolidation of the regime in the base areas,the base area government gradually broke through the old forms and integrated the new symbols and political activities with political significance.In this way,the traditional folk culture has absorbed new nourishment and formed new cultural symbols in the revolutionary transformation,the entertainment activities of spring festival tend to combine education with fun from the pure entertainment of the festival.The reform of annual custom culture in northwest Shanxi has enriched people’s annual custom culture life,strengthened people’s enthusiasm of supporting Army and promoted the development of the movement of changing customs.In the practice of cultural transformation during the Spring Festival in northwestern Shanxi,the Communist Party of China fully respects the customs and psychology of the people,and carries out transformation activities based on the fundamental interests of the people.It is precisely because of this that the Communist Party of China has gained the heartfelt support of the people,which not only gathered the great revolutionary force for the victory of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation,but also provided valuable experience for us to carry out the Chinese-style modernization drive and promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation today.
