Exploring The Influence Of Film Sound On Narrative Plot

Since 1927,when film entered the "sound era",sound has played an increasingly important role in the art of film.The participation of sound liberates the film from the bondage of the picture frame,greatly enriches the narrative techniques of the film,makes the plot development of the film more fascinating,and allows the audience to meet both visual and auditory satisfaction.Film art has long regarded picture as the main narrative force.The participation of sound has changed the narrative mode of film,and sound and picture have gradually become equal to each other,constructing narrative with each other and jointly providing impetus for the development of plot.According to different content of expression,the combination relationship between sound and picture will also change accordingly.Sometimes the sound and picture are synchronized,sometimes the sound and picture are separated,which respectively dominate the presentation of narrative at different moments.At the same time,sound releases the narrative space from the landscape frame,greatly expanding the narrative information carried by the narrative space.In addition,the participation of sound makes the characters in the film more three-dimensional and full-bodied,and makes the atmosphere in the plot more artistically expressive and emotionally compelling.In this paper,we will discuss the different narrative functions of film sound in constructing narrative,shaping narrative space,creating atmosphere and portraying characters from three different types of film sound-language,music and sound,taking the graduation work "Time" as an example.
