The Practical Application And Effect Research Of Light Modeling In Film Creation

Light is an important element in the visual language of movies,and it is the core of shaping and changing tangible objects and characters.Light can promote the form of the subject to leave an image on a photosensitive medium.The processing of light in cinematography needs to revolve around narrative and task,while closely relying on the scene environment to assist narrative from the perspective of visual image effects.Light is the soul,and motion is life.The main reason why light can become the soul of movies is due to its means of light modeling.Light is the cornerstone of all visual activities,and if people want to see an object clearly,they must be able to achieve it under certain lighting conditions.The emergence and development of photography are also based on this basic condition.Light acts on photosensitive materials,and then the chemical elements in the photosensitive materials react under the influence of light.Through further development conditions,the final image effect is achieved.With the continuous progress of science and technology,photography sensitivity will change with the emergence and further development of digital technology.However,no matter how it changes,light remains the first condition,even with new digital sensitivity technologies.Of course,lighting is not just about meeting the technical requirements of photographic exposure.Looking back at early films,lighting has already become a part of narrative.The film creator conveys the visual information by choosing different lighting techniques.When the audience watches the film,they can perceive the deep meaning behind the image based on the creator’s use and processing of different lighting techniques.As the youngest art genre,film has been using light contrast and light modeling as important means to attract audiences since its inception.Therefore,in the creative process of a film,the key factor in producing a film’s texture is the type of light used to shape characters,convey information,and enhance atmosphere.Therefore,exploring the lighting design in film creation is of profound significance for grasping the laws of film creation.This article is based on the creative process of the short film "Escape to Freedom",expressing the shaping of character images,the projection of personality and psychology,as well as the narrative expression and emotional communication of light from the perspectives of lens language and lighting design.In order to explore the methods,techniques,practices,and application effects of light modeling in film creation,this also constitutes the basic framework of this article.
